    CHAPTER I

    THE PROBLEM AND ITS SCOPE

    INTRODUCTION

    Rationale of the Study

Most of us do not notice it. It has been used in writing papers at school, to

print the labels of the food in the supermarket, to print reports or forms at work

and even to print pictures. It drips, leaks, marks, and drains from the faulty

ballpoint pen in our pocket. Yet, it has a direct impact on our everyday life. Yes,

its all about INK. Ink is such a tiny word with three letters but has played such a

huge part on the stage of world history, economy and education of every person,

especially ilipinos. It has a great significance in spreading knowledge in the

form of the printed word. Ink is everywhere and it is impossible to function without

touching ink at least a couple of hundred times a day.

Ink companies have been spreading several brands of ink in the country

and even in the whole world !ust to provide the needs of the people everyday.

"randed inks became more costly and consumers budget have been greatly

affected. #nd components of an ink affects the cost of the said product.

Inks are made up from the solvents and pigment ingredients which help

ceate some inks color and shine. Inks can also be ha$ardous to ones health

once ingested. %ertain inks, such as those used in digital printers, and even

those found in a common pen can be harmful, due its the components that it has.

&ith these concerns as well as the benefits that inks have provided us,

the researchers decided to conduct a study on the 'roduction and (istribution of

to use natural ones. If the study is found feasible and there upon carried out, the

pro!ect could provide ink users and consumers a low priced, less dangerous to

ones health, and could respond to a demand of better environmental

    sustainability.

    STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
