Feast of Trumpets: Leviticus 23:23-25, Numbers 29:1-6

Feast of Tabernacles: Leviticus 23:33-43, Numbers 29:12-34, Deuteronomy 16:13-15

When: The 7th day of the week

How Long: One day

Purpose: To worship God and rest

What Happened: No one did any work

When: The 7th year

How Long: One year

Purpose: To remember that God created the world and let the land rest

What Happened: No one tended their fields

When: The 14th day of the 1st month (the 10th day they choose the lamb)

How Long: One Night

Purpose: To remember God passing over the Israelites in the 10th plague

What Happened: Blood from a lamb was put on the door frame

When: Begins on the 15th day of the 1st month

How Long: One Week

Purpose: To remember God leading the Israelites out of Egypt

What Happened: The Israelites ate unleavened bread

fruits

When: The day after Passover (during the Feast of Unleavened Bread)

How Long: One day

Purpose: Remind the Israelites about the day they crossed the Red Sea

What Happened: Give offerings of barley to God

When: Fifty days after the Feast of Firstfruits

How Long: One day

Purpose: To remember when God gave Moses the Ten Commandments

What Happened: Give offerings of wheat to God

Feast of Weeks (also

Pentecost)

Trumpets

When: 1st day of the 7th month

How Long: All day

Purpose: To rest and prepare for the Day of Atonement

What Happened: The Israelites rested from all of their work and gave special sacrifices to God.

When: 10th day of the 7th month

How Long: One day

Purpose: For the Israelites to forgiveness for their sins

What Happened: Presented sacrifices to God and sent out the Scapegoat

Tabernacles

When: 15th day of the 7th month

How Long: 8 days

Purpose: To remember that God took care of them in the wilderness

What Happened: Brought offerings to God, rested on the 1st and 8th days and rejoice to the lord, lived in tents (booths) outside the city

When: On the 50th year

How Long: A year

Purpose: To remind the Israelites that everything belongs to God

What Happened: returned everything to it’s rightful owner, forgive debts, release slaves

Year of Jubilee
