From the Pastor:

“Our Catholic liturgical year follows a rhythmic cycle. It points us toward beginnings and ends and, in so doing, emphasizes an important truth that can only be grasped through faith. This is the Thirty Fourth or last Sunday in the Church year and we celebrate the Feast of the Solemnity of Jesus Christ the Sovereign King. It is no coincidence that our Feast, the Feast of Christ the King and the last week of the year passes through the "secular" Feast of Thanksgiving this year. There is no separation for the believer be-tween the secular and the Sacred. In the great event of the Incarnation and the fullness of the Pas-chal Mystery, all is made new. We do not bring God into time, He is its' author. We are invited by grace to come to acknowledge that He is and then receive his creature time as a gift, a good, to be given back to Him through living our lives in Christ for the sake of the world. Thanksgiving is a great Feast made even fuller in meaning for the Christian. The word "Eucharist" means Thanksgiving. Let us walk through this last week of the year and join with those whom we love around the table of Thanksgiving, and then let us walk the way of faith into the new Liturgical season, Advent, getting ourselves and the world of our own time ready for the coming of Christ the King.” (www.catholic.org/catholic on line)

With love and prayers, Fr. Francis

Help Wanted!

Ushers are often the first persons parish-ioners see as they enter church and one of the last as they leave to go about their day. Ushers greet people with a smile, assist

those with special needs, take up the collection and dis-tribute the bulletin or other materials. It is a beautiful ministry of service.

Additional ushers are needed—especially at the 12 Noon Mass on Sunday. Men and women who would like to become ushers or are interested in learning more should contact the rectory.

Will You Have the

Best Advent Ever???

It is entirely up to you! Advent, at its heart, is about

getting ready to encounter Jesus at Christmas. Opening your heart to Him. Getting to know Him. Becoming a better hus-band or wife, father or mother, son or daughter, friend, etc. Best Advent Ever is a tool to help you do that.

Many OLSH parishioners signed up last year and their feed-back was wonderful! If you participated last year, you should have received a welcome e-mail for this year’s program. If you didn’t—it’s not too late!!!

We’re excited to tell you about this year’s pro-gram: Rediscover Christmas! Last year’s program focused on how to experience God’s mercy and share it with others. This year, the program will help you slow down and focus on what matters most during the busy holiday season. Experience Christmas like you never have before! When does it start? Look for your first email on Sunday, No-vember 27. The program ends Monday, December 26. What can I expect? You will receive an email every day dur-ing Advent: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday – Watch a 1- to 2-minute video from one of our great presenters who dives deeper into the theme for the week.

Thursday – Watch a short, personal video from a Dynamic Catholic team member.

Saturday – Get a free song from our brand new Christmas CD. Sunday – Catch up on any videos you missed, and get a pre-

view for the coming week.
