Fashion Magazine Assignment
Michelle Tompkins
Glamour
The mast head is written in
capitals and the image
(usually a woman) overlaps
the title of the magazine.
The font is very simple yet
recognizable and often in
bright colours.
The price badge
is in a bright
yellow
circle, which is
very eye
catching.
The topics bar on
the website reflect
the subjects
covered in the
magazine.
Targets women aged 18-
49.
Published
monthly.
VogueVogue magazine is more
sophisticated and probably
aimed at an older target
audience because of this. The
website also reflects this. The
colours, (other than pink) are
not so bright and there is
much more emphasis on
blacks and golds.
I like the subtle colours
used, however this may
not stand out to most
people.
Targets ages 25-54.
The font on the front
covers tend to stick with
no more than 3 fonts. I
would use this technique
when creating my own
Cosmopolitan
Cosmopolitan is full of
bright colours.
Often uses contrasting
colours on the front page
of the magazine.
Targets ages 18-29.
The website is very bright
and graphic heavy, I think
this appeals to a younger
audience however I
would not use it.
On the front covers, there is
almost always at least one
‘badge’ with a tagline
containing something they think
will interest their readers.
Elle
Elle also has a
sophisticated style.
The background is
usually plain, or a
gradient, I would
probably mimic this
in my own design.
The models on the front
covers are placed in
front of the title ‘ELLE’.
The website uses
colours in such a way
that it looks fresh and
clean.
Elle claims to appeal to all ages, however I think that it seems to be targeted to a slightly older target audience than others, as the models are
wearing less make-up etc.
