Letter

From The Editor:

Publishing a magazine is a journey all

within itself. Laying out the magazine is not the

only challenging aspect. There can be many

complications in communicating with sources,

sponsors and even in getting advertisements.

The process of magazine publishing how-

ever, is very hands-on and forces individuals to

get out there and mingle! “What do you do?” or

“Who do you work for?” are the number one leading questions that

will get anyone anywhere. Sometimes information is limited, but a

publisher cannot accept no as an answer. It is just on to the next

source.

In this magazine alone, I traveled to great lengths to get camera

footage, did photo shoots just to be able to put in the magazine, and

talked to tons of people for interviews and Ads. Sleek Style is well

known now. Thanks to this publishing project, Sleek Style has been

considered for real publication, and I am being interviewed for in-

ternships and jobs.

Advice to anyone carrying out such a challenging project: there

are only benefits and plenty of work and business relationships to be

gained. If nothing comes of the project, at least there were strides

made towards widening horizons. Nothing is better than completing

a goal. Start a project and stick it out until the end!

Sleek Style is here with Willie Ox and we are going to see

what kind of style he has and what is going on with his music

career.

SleekStyle: what kind of styles would you wear to the club?

Willie Ox: If I’m going to the club, I’m throwing on some

jeans, Polos, you know keep it sexy for the ladies. On a daily

basis though, sweat pants and white T’s to keep it funky and

90s.

SleekStyle: When you say 90s, what kind of white T’s were

they?

Willie Ox: Galaxies, the super long white T’s.

SleekStyle: Super-long white T’s? Please explain.

Willie Ox: Well, not super long white T’s because I’m only

5’8”.

SleekStyle: What kind of boots/shoes do you like to wear?

Willie Ox: What boots? ACGs. I kind of cut out the Timbs [Timberlands] and sticking to ACGs. I like the leath-

er.

SleekStyle: No Timberlands? Why not?

Willie Ox: It’s not because I do not like Timbs; I’m just more comfortable and they [ACG’s] come in different

colors.

SleekStyle: Okay, we hear you are involved in music? Do you write?

Willie Ox: Yes! You heard right!

SleekStyle: Do you have any songs that you have been putting out [to the media] lately?

Willie Ox: Yes ma’am. I actually have put out two mix tapes so far. I have that [mix tapes] in my discography and a bunch of features on other peoples mix tapes…. (Get the Rest of this Audio Interview online right now! www.SleekStyleFashion.net/hittinthestreetz)

Michea carried on her singing talent through high-

school, participating in talent shows and experimenting

on soundtracks. It wasn't long before her and friends

were locking down tracks on YouTube! Talent just

wasn’t the word to describe this woman. Hours and

hours of practice to perfection led to one of the biggest

showcased events at Belleville Highschool in 2005. Mi-

chea sang her heart out and showed the world that

7

Page 9: SleekStyle Fashion Magazine

This was not just her talent; it was the way of life for her.

As time went on, Michea eventually went off to college, in which she chose to go to Morgan State Univer-

sity in Baltimore, Maryland. She birthed a beautiful baby girl, decided to grind out her years as a music

major and graduated with a major in Communications! Below all of this excitement, Michea’s love for mu-

sic was stronger than ever.

It wasn’t until she stepped back onto the music scene in 2011, did she really feel strongly about music.

Truth Or Dare, the album that would drop in March 2012 would set her name and career off in bright

lights!

Shows, Showcases, Talent nights, all started tumbling in Michea’s way, giving her an outlet for her music.

These little shows were becoming like a back door into the Music industry and she still continues to do

shows!

Examples of some of her latest performances include the Mama Imma Make It (MIMI) showcase, Hot 97’s

Time to Shine, and Rutgers 2012 Caribbean Festival. Her Album called Truth Or Dare: I Chose Dare is

available on WildFire.com as well as her videos accessible on YouTube.

Be on the lookout for this young “flame”. Michea Hollywood is coming hard and fast, and playing no

games!

Strawberry Blunt is not just

a Hip- Hop site. A “Strawberry

Blunt” is a classy but sassy female

who isn't afraid to speaker her mind.

“Business-minded ladies came up

with the idea of having sweet, smart

and sexy girls get together with one

goal in mind—hip-hop,” said Melissa

Sweets, contributing writer, editor

and host of Strawberry Blunt Media.

Strawberry Blunt Media, LLC,

was started by Hala Berry and Lauren

Santiago two years ago. It began as an

informative YouTube page that provided

thhe latest celebrity entertainment news.

They have created a buzz and a name for

themselves in the last two years with in-

terviews on online radio and constant

promotion. Strawberry Blunt is the next

female movement.

Strawberry Blunt Media is

a hip-hop blog that launched in De-

cember 2010 and is composed of all

women bloggers.

“We pride ourselves in

being one of the only all female

movements in hip-hop wo have a

deep motivation to continuously

empower women in the industry,

which unfortunately amongst oth-

ers, comes few and far between.

Essentially, we are the all-female, all

-hip-hop version of Perezhil-

ton.com,” said Sweets.

We also have a radio show eve-

ry Wednesday on AlistRadio.net which

has given us an additional portal to relay

all the ongoings of celebrity life in a fun

and unique way,” said Sweets.

What to Expect Next…..

The Straw-

berry Blunt team has

invested a lot of

time building their

site to what is has

become and they

really their absolute

best to hone in on

the latest, most in-

teresting, exciting

news there is to

offer. They also try

to give up-and-

coming artists a

platform to display

their music, which

most sites ignore

completely.

However,

they’re different.

Different in the best

way possible! “We

like to think of our-

selves as the first

interactive blog,

where you actually

feel you know each

girl that’s blogging,

rather than just be-

ing noted as Straw-

berry Blunt Staff,”

said Sweets.

"When becoming a part of the

sorority of hip-hop. Each girl must

know she's joining a sisterhood.

However, we do expect a lot

from our sisters, as we want all of

our members to be wonderful,

smart, out-spoken, well-rounded

young women who have the drive

and motivation to bring SB to the

next level."

"We now host a musically engag-

ing, thought-provoking, hip-hop

online radio

show on www.BottomMusicRadio

.com every Wednesday from

10pm to 12am with myself, Hala

Berry, Miss Santiago, and Kathy

Kit-Kat with music by Big Dawg

Pitbulls, DJ Mike Sessions," said

Sweets.

"Aside from blogging and our

radio show, our team hosts

events from time-to-time for dif-

ferent promoters & DJs such as

DJ Enuff, Bobby Trends, DJ Camil-

lo, etc, and the ladies work in the

industry at places like VH1, Hot

97, La Mega 97.9, Def Jam, etc,

which really assists us in market-

ing and promoting our brand",

said Sweets.

girls at events! Be sure to

back, sophisticated or classy?

Carly: I’d like to say very comfortable, casual, Bohe-

-Shirts ad chunky bracelets with necklaces; also leg-

gings and boots.

SleekStyle: Cool, is there any name brand that you

like to follow?

Carly: I really like nice accessories like Gucci and Mi-

chael Kors. But then, I can also buy my shirts that-

look so nice in TJ Maxx and I love that.

SleekStyle: Okay, so it doesn’t “have” to be name brand?

Carly: No it does not have to be name brand, does not have to be a million dollars, you can get a $20 shirt and

look amazing in it!

SleekStyle: Are there any celebrities who inspire your lifestyle?

Carly: Absolutely, Nicole Ritchie is huge. I follow her every move. I love the way she dresses. House of Harlow

1960s, I love her accessories, shoes all of that.
