Dear Prof. Torres,The internship announcement attached to this email explains, in general terms, aninternship/part time job opportunity open to UPR Bayamon students. I wouldappreciate a few moments of your time to review the program and considerrecommending it to any qualified students in your program. Fairfield Technologiespresently is adding interns to the program. Interns may work from their campuslocation on flexible schedules and are paid minimum wage for ten hours per weekwhile in the program.

Our firm contracts with federal government agencies to enhance, maintain, anddevelop information technology systems to meet the myriad requirements of each

agency and mission. Our current contracts are with scientific agencies (NOAA, NASA,NIH), federal law enforcement (FBI, Department of Homeland Security/CBP), and theintelligence community. Fairfield Technologies grew during the recent economicdownturn and we plan to continue our expansion.

Interns working for the Partnership for Technology Research (PTR) provide additionalresearch and writing support for our growing business. Their research assists ourcurrent programs with ad hoc reports on emerging technology, trends, and alternatemethods. Other intern research supports our efforts to define, shape, andsuccessfully bid new business with the government and industry partners. In sum, students take topics from a list of real issues we need to understand better as acompany, and they support our knowledge acquisition through their efforts.

As an adjunct faculty member at a Maryland liberal arts college, I know first handhow difficult it can be for students to find positive internships, let alone part time, paid work during the academic year. The PTR program provides that opportunity, and allows students to work virtually from wherever they live and study. Please passthe information on to interested students, and feel free to contact me with anyquestions. As a trained academic Latin American historian, I welcome studentswriting in either English or Spanish to this program.

Best regards,Jay HarrisonSenior Manager, Federal ProgramsFairfield Technologies Inc.
