Wednesday, November 17th - Sit back and relax as we travel north today, stopping in Washington, DC to tour the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Concep-tion. This magnificent shrine is the largest Christian church in North America and one of the ten largest in the world. Our visit will include a tour to the chapels on both levels as we learn about the background of the Shrine, the architecture, and the ecclesiasti-cal artwork. You will surely be in awe at the
mosaics ornamenting the chapels and domes as well as the majestic sculptures. Then we’ll continue on our way, stop-ping at Mount Hope. The holidays at Mount Hope are special as the historic mansion is transformed into a Holiday wonderland, complete with traditional Victorian ornaments, fresh Christmas trees and holiday treats. A delicious meal and an evening filled with Christ-mas tales and caroling will make this a delightful evening. Then it’s off to our home for the next two nights, The Cork Factory, an historical hotel in Lancaster. (D)
Thursday, November 18th - Rise and shine! It’s time to enjoy break-fast and continue this adventure. We’ll start the day by seeing a pri-vate showing of Jacob’s Choice. It is a compelling and emotional story told through the everyday lives of the Fishers, an Old Order Amish
family of today. You’ll witness young Jacob’s struggle in choosing the Amish church or leaving behind family and community for the
allure of the modern world. You’ll leave this venue with a much better understanding of what it means to be Amish, and the ties that continue to bind the community together through the centu-ries. Afterwards we’ll take a guided tour of the Amish farmlands with an Amish guide. A “futuristic farmer” who happens to be Amish will step on our coach and take us into the future of Amish farming. No horses, no tractors, no soil! But there are vegetables and spices growing “in the air” on tall towers producing food for a local retirement community. With only an eighth-grade education, this Amish farmer has built a “vertical growing system” of the future. Then we’ll see his diary farm and hear first-hand how cows are milked, and the milk kept cool, all without electricity. It’s a fascinating and educational adventure that is truly different, even for those who are frequent visitors to Lancas-ter. Then it’s off to Kitchen Kettle Village to enjoy lunch on your own prior to going to the Sight and Sound Theatre’s amazing produc-tion of “Queen Esther.”
Set in the opulent yet perilous Persian Empire, this story is a capti-vating tale of beauty and bravery. Esther’s ordinary life changed forever when she was taken through the palace doors, entering a new world of royalty and risk. With a crown on her head and a se-cret in her heart, can she find the courage to trust in God’s plan and believe that she was made for such a time as this? Riveting and up-lifting, you’ll be mesmerized and, as always, uplifted by the message from this Bible story that has come to life before your eyes. After-wards we’ll enjoy a delicious meal at a local restaurant before head-ing back to our hotel for the night. (B, D)

Friday, November 19th This morning we must turn our motor coach south but not without a stop at Green Dragon Farmers Market. It is considered Lancaster’s favorite local farmer’s market! Actually it has grown to become one of the largest flea mar-kets on the East Coast and is filled with Amish jams, jellies and crafts as well as specialty vendors. Then it’s time to continue our journey home, stopping for lunch en route. There are just so many wonder-ful things included in this trip that it will be hard for you to decide which is your favorite when you share your memories with others! (Breakfast included)
