Enrichment courses will be offered this summer in the Exeter Township School District. Enrollment in

each of the courses listed is also offered to students in neighboring school districts on an “as available basis.”

The fee is determined according to the length of the course and cost of materials required. All summer school

enrichment classes are self-supporting. If a class is canceled due to insufficient enrollment, your payment will

be returned to you. If a student is unable to attend after classes have been established, refunds will not be

made since this is a self-supporting program and course offerings are based on sufficient enrollment.

If your child is interested in attending one or more of the offerings listed in this catalog, please complete

and return the registration form on page 7 of this catalog by June 3, 2013, to your building principal OR Mary

Welcome to the Stage! Grades 1 - 5 9 days for 2 hours each day In this two-week program, students will work on developing beginning performance skills, including pantomime, dancing, singing, and improvisation. Students will use their imaginations to create original

performance pieces, to be presented to parents on the final day of the program. This workshop is a great lead-in to the Summer Spotlight program, the last two weeks in July. Class is limited to 15 students and will be held at the Owatin Creek Outdoor Theatre.

World Music Drumming & African Folklore Grades 6 – 8 5 days for 3 hours each day

Join us as we explore the African culture using music, art, and theater as our medium. Students will play instruments from Africa, sing songs from Africa, and use theater to bring the folklore to life. The session will

end with a performance for the families.

Summer Spotlight Series: Hansel & Gretel Grades 1 – 5 10 days for 2 hours each day

Bring the excitement of the stage to your summer! Over

the course of each two-week session, students will

experience every aspect of producing a children’s show –

from auditions, to rehearsals, to costumes and scenery –

resulting in a final performance for family and friends.

Students will learn about various aspects of theater

through rehearsals, theater games, and improvisations,

while at the same time developing important social skills

and having a blast! Class is limited to 15 students and

will be held in the Owatin Creek Outdoor Theatre.

pantomime, theatre games, and acting and singing for the stage. Students who have taken this session before are encouraged to join us again! Class is limited to a maximum of 30 students.

Students will create a wide variety of crafts from various materials. We will take a look at specific artists and be

inspired by their art and style. Students will use clay, Paper Mache, glaze, paint, and many

other materials to create projects, 2 and 3 dimensionally. Students will leave the course with kiln-fired

clay projects, sketch journals, banks and much more. Class limited to a maximum of 12 students.

This course will take students on a tour of Asia, Africa, and the Americas as they learn about other cultures and their arts and crafts. Students will use various materials to create projects such as, but not limited to, Chinese Calligraphy Scrolls, Tiberian Mandalas, Egyptian Amulets and African Tribal Masks, Mexican Folk Art, Hex Signs and Mardi Gras Masks. Class limited to a maximum of

12 students.

10 Days for 2 Hours Run by EHS’s Varsity Girls Tennis Coach, each two-week session will help younger students develop beginning

tennis skills, in accordance with the USTA 10 and Under Tennis guidelines. Special equipment and court sizes will allow students to experience early success, and tennis games and challenges will help them develop a love of the sport. Students must

provide their own racquets; all other equipment will be provided for them. Each session is limited to a maximum of 20 students. Grades: Entering Grades 3 - 6 Time: 12:00 Noon – 2:00 p.m.

This class will be designed

for students who are

creative writers/artists.

Over the course of five

weeks, students will have

the opportunity to write

poetry, plays and short

stories. Those students

who are artistic can create comic strips and graphic

short stories. Students will need to follow certain

guidelines each week, but otherwise can enjoy a

free and relaxing writing environment. A more

detailed curriculum will be provided at the

beginning of week one. Class limited to a maximum of

20 students.

The Reiffton Rookie Band camp will continue the progress 4th

Beginners’ String Camp

Exeter Township School District

We are excited to offer a Beginners’ String Camp for students

who will be joining the strings program this fall!

The Exeter Township Beginners’ String Camp will give young musicians a head start as they work with Mr. Brian Mishler, senior high school orchestra director, and Mrs. Emily Holleman, elementary instrumental music teacher. Students will receive one small-group 45-minute lesson each day. By the end of the week, students will be able to play simple tunes using the bow on their instrument of choice! Students who rent instruments from The String Tree will receive their instrument on the first day of camp. The camp will be held from Monday, August 12th through Friday, August 16th. Please indicate your preferred times on the attached form. The cost of camp is $5 a day, at a total cost of $25 for the entire week.
