The Biennial, held since 1955, is one of the world's most acclaimed events of its kind. The thematic point of departure for the main exhibition of this year's Biennial is 'Over you / you', a quick note borrowed from the corner of a drawing by the German contemporary artist Martin Kippenberger that led to all kinds of considerations that have come to underlie the conceptual framework of this year's edition of the Biennial. The main exhibition, whose curator is Nicola Lees, brings together both traditional and contemporary forms of graphic production, emphasizing their common political and aesthetic foundations. The Biennial's main exhibition is accompanied by exhibitions of work by the winner of the 30th edition of the Biennial and a number of other exhibitions and artistic events held at various exhibition venues.www.mglc- lj.si/bienale/bienale_2015

Acclaimed for her sculptural installations, González’s artistic complexity reflects the rich diversity of contemporary graphic art. María’s work blends graphic art, performance events, installation and sound into a precisely devised and harmonic whole. The Tree Talk Series draws inspiration from a fallen birch tree whose bark she has flattened, and used to make drawings and etchings. She scanned, that is, converted digitally, its furrowed markings and had them cut into a player- piano roll with a laser. While played, the patterns morph into a startling score, birch music that reminds us of the inner logic inherent in all natural patterns.Apart from drawings, graphic prints and etchings, Maria Elena Gonzales’s showcase will also feature the piano- player roll. Made exclusively for the Ljubljana exhibition, the new score will receive its world premiere at two concerts accompanying the show’s opening and closing ceremonies. The uniquely fluid and time- conditioned sonic “sculpture” forms part of the Forest exhibition. Notwithstanding its romantic texture, the work primarily aims at being exact and analytical, exploring the complexity of nature, of its structure, and establishing a subtle interrelationship between science and culture, particularly art. Open 10:00 - 18:00, Sundays 10:00 - 14:00

Giles Round: Ljubljana, 1955 28 Aug - 3 Dec, Jakopič GalleryExibition within the scope of the 31st Biennial of Graphic Arts Jakopič Gallery hosts Giles Round. The English artist’s project is the interpretation of the history of the Biennial of Graphic Arts.Open 10:00 - 18:00. Closed: Mondays.

Plečnik CollectionOpen from 24 September The new permanent exhibition at the Plečnik House in Trnovo presents the most important projects of the late architect. Plečnik's creativity comes to life through the plans, models and photographs of his creations such as the Zacherl House in Vienna, Prague Castle, the National and University Library in Ljubljana, the Ljubljana Central Market, Žale Cemetery, the Church of St. Michael at the Ljubljana Marshes and numerous other masterpieces. Several plans of Plečnik’s never realized visions are also on display. The Cathedral of Freedom, the master's vision of the Slovenian parliament, is especially worthy of our attention.Guided tours: every hour, on the hour (the last guided tour at 17:00). social realism. The years to follow saw a gradual development of modern, increasingly perfected and recognizably Slovenian poster design, whose exponents included Edvard Ravnikar and other members of the young post- war generation of Slovenian architects.Open 10:00 - 18:00. Closed: Mondays

Water24 Jun - 8 May 2016, City Museum of Ljubljana Through four main themes and various timelines, the exhibition presents the importance of water. It is essential for our survival, the mobility of humans, goods, ideas and knowledge, our mythologies and beliefs, art and language. The exhibition is also discussing water cycles in nature, their meaning and ecology. The first three themes build their stories through museum artefacts among which a larger wooden boat, presented to the public for the very first time, deserves a special mention. Other artefacts also include a rich glass collection, famous artworks by Slovenian artists and a selection of the most important artefacts from the collection of the Potočnik family, originating from the riverbed of the Ljubljanica. The fourth theme is presented with an interactive experimental element, primary intended for children’s experiential workshops. Guided tour in English on Sunday, 6 September at 13:00Open 10:00 - 18:00, Thursdays 10:00 - 21:00. Closed: Mondays
