Celina Governor's Cup RegattaThe Celina Governor’s Cup Regatta started in 1958 as
a joint venture between the Celina Lions Club and the St Marys Boat Club and continued through 1970. After a 25-year hiatus, hydroplane racing returned to Grand Lake St Marys in 1995. The original Governor’s Cup Trophy,
presented by Governor C. William O’Neil in 1958, was restored and it continues to be the hallmark of this event. Each year more than 30,000 spectators crowd the shoreline along Lakeshore Drive in Celina, during our Free Family Fun event weekend. Local Sponsors have the opportunity to be part of the regatta. This Celina Governors Cup Regatta is recognized throughout the country as a premier boat race, bringing 70+ race boats with speeds ranging from 80 mph to over 140 mph. With speeds like this, dedicated volunteers, committed sponsors, and the beauty of Grand Lake St Marys, the Celina Governors Cup Regatta promises to generate tremendous crowds and excitement for the entire two days!
Fort Recovery State MuseumFort Recovery State Museum is located on the site of the
two largest Indian battles in the United States. The 1791 Battle of the Wabash was a great victory by the Native Americans under Little Turtle and Blue Jacket and the largest defeat ever of the U.S. Army (St. Clair's Defeat). The 1794 Fort Recovery victory, by the Legion of the United States under Anthony Wayne, broke the Indian confederation, along with Fallen Timbers led to the signing of the Treaty of Greenville.
