BIO Indran has overseen a significant reform of the evaluation function at UNDP moving it towards full independence, enhanced credibility and an expansion in the scope and coverage of UNDP work. Through the professional model under his tenure, the unit has seen IEO take the lead and full responsibility for its work at the global and country level, with changes evident in the methodologies and approaches towards country-level and corporate assessments, quality assessment of decentralized evaluations and national evaluation capacity. The new policy established an Audit and Evaluation Advisory Committee (AEAC) and an International Evaluation Advisory Panel (IEAP) to enhance the credibility and utility of IEO work. He has substantial experience in evaluation thought leadership, has served as instructor (IPDET) and panellist globally on the subject, and sees evaluation as a key accountability tool for improving performance and governance at all levels, and advancing the development agenda.
