Question SevenLooking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

Back to School!

Now looking back at my school magazine front cover, I have realised I have improved so much! I think I could have done a better job with using the techniques I know now. The text is hard to see and the mast head doesn’t pop out enough. I still quite like how I edited the picture, however I do find it a bit too bright and contrasted now. Although this is the first time adjusting to the newer version of Photoshop Cs6 I think I did an alright first attempt of a magazine cover.

Back to School! The same with my contents page; if I had the techniques back then I would have created something up to standard with my music magazine contents page. The layout looks childish and non professional. I do like how I made the title however. I have improved throughout the progression of my magazines. I really like my music magazine contents page. It probably my most favourite out of the three products.

Front covers:With direct comparison, you can see how much I have progressed. I have kept some similar features such as brightening and contrasting the main images. However I have used many more techniques such as replace colour and the use of the liquefy tool. I have made sure all my content is readable and well spaced out.

Here I have include little shapes and images to make the magazine look interesting. Unlike my school magazine, the title has a unique look, (the brand is what differentiates the magazine!)

My music magazine ‘Encore’ looks very interesting and “professional”. Since my school magazine, I have learnt how to make text bold with the stroke tool and also how to use several layers to make the composition fun. The sugariness of the magazine is all due to colour adjusting with curve levels and hue changes.

Contents pages:Again, seeing these two next to one another allows me to see the mature and unique progression I have made. I have changed the layout completely, my school magazine looks very boring and generic. I have barely edited the images and only used a gradient effect as the background!

Unlike my school contents page I have used layers! This has allowed me to make an exciting CP which would interest the consumers to look through. Despite only using three images, I think this minimal look works beautifully together! I have learnt a great deal since the beginning, all through experimenting and tutorials on YouTube!

As you can see the title of my music magazine looks more attention-grabbing than my schools!

How these improvements have affected the outcome of my DPS!

As I created my DPS last, I have had all the software- editing knowledge since designing my school mag’s FC. This has allowed me to make the most dynamic and creative piece of work. With the use of Photoshop Cs6 and Adobe InDesign I have made a fun and eye catching spread which is ideal for 14-17 year olds girls. I made it overly cute to appeal to Japanese lovers, not only will this delight JPOP fans but it may also intrigue other girls who don’t know of this genre but are similar e.g. girly and enjoy anything pink and cute. I have used a similar colour

theme throughout my music FC, CP and DPS (This is something I have kept the same since my School products.

To conclude… On the whole I have learnt how to properly use software such as Photoshop and InDesign. And I have progressed in the way I use the effects to convey my work. I personally think that my designs have matured and become more distinctive than the generic music magazine. You could associate this to my theme ‘JPOP’ which is an unusual choice of music to portray. In addition I have used many other technologies (which I had never used before) to present my evaluation questions.

Thank you, I hope you have enjoyed all my answers!
