Lake Garda offers us a variety of scenery which ranges from the gentle morenic hills of the bottom end of the lake, adorned with small villages, to the highest peaks of Mount Baldo with their height of 2,200m dominating the whole of Lake Garda. The sports that this place offers are really many and are now all, more or less, well-established: windsurfing, kitesurfing, sailing, diving etc.; while the mountains give us the opportunity to pursue sports such as cycling, mountain biking, trekking, climbing, paragliding, canyoning etc… with fascinating routes suited for every type of preparation, mixing the sport activities with the rich wine and food traditions of the area.In Verona you can go rafting in a totally new way: from the calm waters of the Adige you can actually admire many monuments which overlook its banks, discovering the city “paddling”...All of this without forgetting team sports: in fact there are many offers to organise football camps, basket, rugby and volleyball around lake garda, with the possibility to organise friendly matches against the local teams. Furthermore the opportunity to combine your own fitness preparation and assist live

performances of champions that play in the italian serie A. Our organisation is in fact able to propose packages including tickets for the football teams of Chievoverona, Milan and Inter.

Mountainbike… on Lake Garda

Programme Mountain Bike:

1st Day: Arrival at one of our good middle class hotels in the west area of Lake Garda. Welcome drink, dinner and overnight stay.

2nd Day: After breakfast make your own way to Vesio to meet the guide and off!!You leave from Vesio and after less than 1 km you turn into an unsurfaced road that leads to the Valley of Saint Michael, passing by meadows and fields of wheat. You pass a small dyke and go uphill towards the Tremalzo pass. The road continues to climb for 13 km through fields and woods until the Pisu waterfall. Once you reach the Malga Cà dall’Era you leave the woods for high altitude pasture-land, where you face the last difficult kilometre (10% gradient) until the Cocca pass. Now the climb is gentler (6% gradient) up to the Malga Ciapa and then onto the Rifugio del Garda (hostel). The path goes right under the summit of Mount Tremalzo, where you can enjoy a wonderful view of the lake and valleys, before facing the last part

of the ascent (1.8 km) until the highest point of the itinerary. You pass through a tunnel and at the end of it you have an exciting descent for about 7.5 km on a windy panoramic road until the beeches of the Nota pass. You then reach a surfaced road that levels out and leads you back to Vesio.Return to hotel, dinner and overnight stay.

3rd Day: After breakfast, make your own way to Gargnano and meet with the guide.Leave in the direction of Limone along the old Gardesana road, at one time the only road that went around the lake, and now a traffic-free area. Before starting the ascent, you must make a stop at the old church of Saint Giacomo by the lakeside, at one time the destination of pilgrims passing this area. The church is next to a fisherman’s house, a rare sight nowadays by the lake, with their nets often hanging out to dry or being repaired. After the stop you start to climb with the road being a mixture of easy going unsurfaced parts and tarmacked stretches. After just a kilometre you lose yourself to the views and the magical silence due to the main road being

Leaving from the bus-station we travel along country roads taking us over the hills of Bardolino and Calmasino to reach Piovezzano. A gravel cycle-path then takes us all the way to Bussolengo alongside the Biffis Canal, from Bussolengo we follow a minor road to the centre of Verona. There are two alternative ways for the journey home: for the more experienced cyclist the same route can be taken or the journey back to Bardolino can be made with the local bus.Bus-stops can be found in Via 4 Novembre or in Corso Cavour.

This tour is characterised by a trip on the steamer boat from Bardolino to Sirmione. The tour then starts from outside the castle walls and the cycle-path follows the lake for the most part and then the A road (Strada Statale 11) to the Hotel Dogana, from there we follow country roads until we reach the cycle path of the Mincio park passing through the villages of Camalavicina, Lazise and finally, Bardolino. Places of interest: Sirmione: Catullo’s caves.Peschiera: The fortified walls that surround the town, the Mincio Park.

This is the longest cycle-tour: a total of 64 k departing from Bardolino and cycling over the gentle hills that surround San Girogio in Salici and arriving in Valeggio Sul Mincio, a famous historical renaissance town.Leaving Valeggio the cycle-path leads down to the River Mincio where you find Borghetto, another “pearl” of this area (a medieval village) and following the river we return to Peschiera del Garda. The last part of the cycle-ride takes you along gravel paths next to the lake and some internal minor roads.Places of interest: Valeggio: Sigurtà Botanical Gardens, Borghetto.

A transfer takes you up to a height of 1,342 metres to the village of Novezza from where we then cycle down the main road until we reach the road that takes us up to the Malga Ime, from here we follow cycle-paths through woods and beautiful country-side until we reach Braga, Vilmezzano, Pazzon and Porcino. We return to Bardolino along the hills that divide the Adige Valley and the Albarè Plain. This tour is especially suited for nature lovers.Places of interest: Novezzina: Botanical gardens, Malga Ime.

This is the shortest cycle route. This tour leads from the bus-station and takes you to Tre Contrè from where you head in a southerly direction to the gentle hills of Pastrengo, a village made famous during the First War of Independence for its mounted police force. From Pastrengo we go towards Sandrà, Salionze and Cavalcaselle and then make our way back to Bardolino using minor roads and cycle-paths.Places of interest: Pastrengo: Safari Park and Zoo.

This quite tricky route winds its way south-east along the plain that links Affi, Cavaion and Colà. For practically the whole way this route takes you through vineyards that produce the grape that makes the Bardolino wine. The tour leaves from the bus-station and winds its way up through the back streets to Vallesana, following on we travel along gravel paths to reach the gentle hills of Colà, a small village which is famous for its Thermal Baths. From Colà the route turns towards Calmasino and then Cavaion and finally Affi. At Affi we join the new cycle path that takes us to the surrounding hills and after a brief downhill run we come to Rivoli, a village made famous by Napoleon and the Battle of Rivoli in 1799 which was followed by a period of Austrian domination. From Rivoli a gravel path takes us again through vineyards but this time the wine produced here is a high-quality sparkling Spumante wine and this path takes us back to Affi to an area locally known as Moscal where Nato had a radar positioned for many years. After passing the church of San fermo we go back to Bardolino along the “la Rocca” path.Places of interest: Colà: Thermal Baths of Villa dei Cedri.Rivoli: Napoleonic museum, Fort Wolghemuth,Ruins of the Austrian Customs-House.Affi: San Fermo church.

Ready? Set? Go! We depart from the hill of Garda, already in quota , because today the only thing that will r ise is our elbows.. And the bikes that we have rented, will not be other than our means of transport to reach the various tasting points that are waiting for us. After about 5 kms on a dir t road we arrive to the first “pit-stop” for refreshment: bruschetta with Lake Garda olive oil and a couple of glasses of white Garda wine will give us the necessary energy to continue.

Taking off on a hilly trail through woods, vineyards and olive orchards, we pass by some panoramic view points of the lake, until 5 kms later we arrive to our second stop: a taste of cold cuts accompanied by glasses of red Bardolino wine, according to the best Veneto

tradition…

Then we’re off once more immersed in the thick of the vineyards of the Bardolino hinterland and in never ending fields planted with vines and olive trees. After several k ilometres we stop in an olive orchard where tables and chairs have been set up with another snack: this time of olive pâté tartlets and spark ling white and chiaretto Bardolino wine.

Back on the road again … Keep going! More vistas, vineyards and profuse olive orchards await us, and after having digested the last snack, a real hunger sets in as we arrive at wine cellar. Here we park our bikes which we will not be needing anymore…

We sit down to table and enjoy our “deserved rest”

with cold meats, cheese, and bruschetta… savouring the bouquet of an extra-virgin olive oil and the wines of the zone: white, rosè and red, a complete range of the typical wines of the area. All of a sudden we remember that our return is with our bus! So another wine for the road if we can handle it…
