Some Benefits
"As people communicate online, that conversation becomes part of a
lively, significant, public digital knowledge - rather than chatting for one
moment with a small group of friends and colleagues, every person
potentially has access to a global audience. Taken together, that conversation also creates a mode of knowing we've never had
before...these diverse viewpoints help us get past the biases of
individuals..." (Weinberger, 2007:146)

Social software
Spoilt for choice
Social software offers the opportunity to narrow the divide between producers and consumers. Consumers themselves become producers, through creating and sharing. One implication is the potential for a new ecology of open content, books, learning materials and multimedia, through learners themselves becoming producers of learning materials. (Attwell, 2007)
New approach to using technologies for learning.
