OPENING WEEK ESPORTS SCHEDULE (OCTOBER 26-31) BlizzCon is home to major international tournaments for all of Blizzard’s esports titles. This year, those tournaments include Hearthstone World Championship, Heroes of the Storm Fall Championship, Overwatch World Cup, StarCraft II World Championship Series Global Finals, and World of Warcraft Arena World Championship.
OPENING WEEKThroughout the course of the year, the best of the best have battled it out across the globe to earn their coveted seats at BlizzCon. The esports action kicks off with Opening Week from October 26-31, where teams will fight against their global rivals in hopes of climbing to the grand finals of their respective esports at BlizzCon November 4-5.

WORLD OF WARCRAFT ARENA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPAfter successfully making it through their respective Regional tournaments, the top eight World of Warcraft Arena teams from around the world are traveling to BlizzCon to compete for their share of a prize pool of $250,000. This year’s teams include three apiece from Europe and North America, plus one each from China and KR/TW.
Ahead of the Grand Finals at BlizzCon 2016, the top eight World of Warcraft Arena teams will battle it out during Opening Week in a best-of-five format. The Grand Finals will ramp up the competition with best-of-seven bouts.
The first battle of each match will be fought in Nagrand Arena, and thereafter the losing team will choose an eligible map for the next game. Battles will end when one team is eliminated or when 25 minutes have elapsed.

HEROES OF THE STORM FALL CHAMPIONSHIP There’s a prize pool of $1,000,000 on the line in the Nexus, and after months of competition leading up to this moment, the Heroes of the Storm Fall Championship will culminate at BlizzCon. The 12 qualifying teams will include the season’s winners and runners-up from China and Korea; two Regional event winners each from Europe and North America; and the winners from Australia/New Zealand, Latin America, South East Asia, and Taiwan.
Qualifying teams will face off in a dual tournament group stage until only four remain. Then, when only the best of the best are still standing, they’ll do battle in a single-elimination bracket until only the champions are left standing.

OVERWATCH WORLD CUPMonths after they were assembled following a community vote, teams representing nations and regions from around the globe will compete for glory at BlizzCon. Sixteen teams will compete in best-of-three, round-robin group stages during Opening Week, all hoping to progress to the single-elimination finals and play on the BlizzCon 2016 stage. HEARTHSTONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP The biggest Hearthstone tournament in the world will conclude at BlizzCon when 16 exceptional players from around the globe—hailing from Europe, China, Asia-Pacific, and the Americas—come together to duel not only for the title of World Champion, but also for their share of a $1,000,000 prize pool. Four groups of four players (one from each region) will compete in a dual-tournament format until only eight remain, at which point the competition will shift to a single-elimination bracket. STARCRAFT II WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES GLOBAL FINALSAfter a year of intense WCS competition Blizzard has invited the top 16 players—seven major tournament winners plus nine based on WCS points—in the world to compete in the Global Playoffs. The eight players who make it through the double-elimination groups will then advance to the Global Finals at BlizzCon.
Proceedings will get underway with a ruthless single-elimination bracket, and matches will employ a best-of-five format until the final. The eventual winner must dominate a best-of-seven series to be crowned the WCS Global Champion and earn $100,000!
