GETTING TO KNOW YOU….

You will need to find someone in the room who can answer ‘yes’ for each of the items on the list.

• Walk around the room with the list and interview each other.

• When you find someone who answers “yes”, write their name in the blank.

• You may only write a student’s name once. (This means you must find a DIFFERENT person for each item).

• When you’ve filled in the list with names, bring it to Caitlin or Jackie to check.

THIS IS A CONTEST!! THE FIRST PERSON TO COMPLETE THE FORM WILL GET A PRIZE!!

PLAGIARISM IS A SERIOUS OFFENCE.

• If you plagiarize you will receive a FAILING grade for the assignment.

• If you plagiarize you may FAIL the course. At Parsons you may be dismissed from the university.

• Your instructors and the University Learning Center can help you to avoid plagiarism, but you are responsible for the work you submit.

IF YOU ARE HAVING ANY PROBLEMS…(PERSONAL, ACADEMIC, HEALTH, etc. )

• Communicating with your instructors and your advisor isvery important.

• If you are having difficulties in a course speak with theinstructor directly.

• The EARLIER you identify the problem and talk about itwith your instructors, your advisor, or a counselor the BETTER.

• There are many helpful resources available to ESL + students. Talking to your advisor is a good place to start.

HEALTH INSURANCE

• ALL students should have health insurance for doctor visits, prescription medicine and hospitalization. These services are VERY expensive in the US without insurance.

• IMPORTANT: In the fall and spring semesters, the New School automatically enrolls you in the New School Health Insurance plan and charges you. If you do not need it, you must waive (officially say you do not want it) the insurance. You will receive information about this from Student Health Services.
