Container transportation by the Russian railway ferries
▪ The 1520mm wide-gauge rail infrastructure in Mukran allowed to use the
railway ferries for container transportation from / to Trans-Siberian Railway
▪ The Russian wide-gauge container rail cars were rolled onto and off the ferry

• CCTT was founded in Switzerland in 1997 a non-commercial transport association
• The founders of CCTT are JSC RZD (Russian Railways), Deutsche Bahn AG, GETO and KIFFA
• CCTT was initially named as International Coordinating Council on Trans-Siberian Transportation
• CCTT has has achieved a high international standing and has become an efficient international forum for networking and real cooperation in Trans-Siberian freight transportation
• In 2009 Mukran Port as the most-western station of Trans-Siberian Railway has joined CCTT
• In CCTT the work of Mukran Port was focused on the international freight volumes on TSR
• In 2019 Mukran Port has chanded the CCTT membership from associate to standing member

• GETO one of the CCTT founders was founded in Switzerland in 1978
• GETO was initially named as the Group of European Trans-Siberian Operators and Forwarders
• aim was to safeguard the interests of European Transsiberian operators and to support the increase in transportation on the most important Eurasian railway route.
• in 2012 Mukran Port has joined GETO and became a West European part of the international network for promoting Transsiberian transport and transit from and to the CIS - countries
• Since then Mukran Port as a member of CCTT and GETO contributes to introducing advanced technologies, which increase the international freight volumes on the Trans-Siberian Railway

• New perspectives for GETO members with an expanded focus of interest to overall Asian Region
• In May 2019 GETO was renamed into "Group of European Trans-Eurasia Operators and Forwarders”
• CCTT followed GETO taking into account the eminent importance of the Eurasian landbridge
• In September 2019 the 29. Plenary Session of CCTT in Nur-Sultan decided to rename the CCTT into
International Coordinating Council on Trans-Eurasian Transportation (CCTT)
• Mukran Port adopted its work according to the current trends in the GETO and CCTT Associations
Belt and Road Initiative (BRI)
New positive impulses for GETO & CCTT
• In the past the Eurasian landbridge denoted mainly the Trans-Siberian Railway corridor
• This has changed since the BELT AND ROAD INITIATIVE was introduced in 2013 by the Chinese Govt.

of trains directly alongside vessels for seamless container handling
▪ The rail infrastructure directly connects Mukran to the hinterland rail network

▪ A rising demand on railway transportation required alternative transport solutions

Eastbound Westbound
In the 1. half 2020 the container cargo volume on the Trans-Siberian Railway reached 223,000 TEU, an increase by 65% (year-on-year) in the 2-way throughput (21% Eastbound and 44% Westbound).
In the 1.half 2020 the freight transport on the Trans-Siberian Railway has been bucking the pandemic–caused falling trendof air and ocean cargo volumes by double-digit growth in both directions due to its lower susceptibility to interference.
As an answer to continuous congestions at the land-based EU entry points GETO Membersimplemented a unique intermodal project. The short sea links connect Russian and German sea ports.
This integral part of the New Silk Road is more time-efficient for transports between Asia and Europe.
