Project activities:
6th April 2019, Saturday - Arrival of the Swedish group
The meeting started on April, 7th. The Swedish group was the first one in
arriving, one day in advance. As the two other groups, they were staying at
Residencia Universitaria Lope de Vega, next to the University, in the city
centre.
7th April 2019, Sunday – Arrival of the Italian and Slovak groups
On Sunday 7th April, the two other groups (Italy and Slovakia) arrived at
Alcalá. The three groups were welcome at Residencia Universitaria Lope de
Vega by the Principal Ms. Consuelo Parra and the project coordinator, Ms.
Sara Lumbreras.
8th April 2019, Monday – First working day
In the first working day, the representatives of the four Partner Schools met
at Cervantes Square (5 minutes away from the Residence where the visiting
groups were staying), where we had the welcome from the Education city
councillor.

After that, we spent the rest of the morning knowing the city with a guided
tour: Alcalá, city of three cultures. We walked through the historical streets
of Alcalá de Henares and learnt about interesting facts related to the
diversity involving its history.
Once the guided tour was finished, the groups had free time to have lunch
or go shopping before the next activity started: guided tour inside the main
building of University of Alcalá, Colegio Mayor de San Ildefonso.

The day ended with a gymkhana around the city centre, organized by the
teachers of IES Lázaro Carreter. Actually, 11 teachers were involved in its
development. The students were distributed in mixed groups of the four
countries and they had to complete a series of questions, clues and
challenges along the landmarks they had visited and been explained about
in the morning.
During this day, the students and teachers in the project were working
about the historical diversity of the city and got to learn about the
coexistence of the different cultures living in Alcalá through centuries. Also,
it was a nice way to get to know Alcalá de Henares, World Heritage City.

IES LÁZARO CARRETER C/ Pío Baroja, 7 28806 Alcalá de Henares, Madrid. C.C. 28060373 Teléfono: 91 877 02 90 Fax: 91 883 30 19 http://www.educa2.madrid.org/web/centro.ies.lazarocarreter.alcala
The activities started at 9:30 at IES Lázaro Carreter. Some of the groups
came by bus, some others on foot. We all met at the school Assembly Hall,
where the Principal, Ms. Consuelo Parra, welcomed our visitors and
explained what the day was going to consist of.
After that, each of the groups explained to the others the information
obtained from the surveys about diversity we had all been working on, as
well as the leaflets elaborated by each delegation. We shared opinions and
conclusions and learned about the other countries’ culture, traditions and
diversity.

Later, there was a walk around the facilities of the school, so that the
groups from Italy, Slovakia and Sweden could have an idea of how we work,
our different classrooms, gym, cafeteria, courtyard, labs, etc.
At 11:00 there was a break and the activities started again at 11:30 in the
school Library sharing a picninc offered by IES Lázaro Carreter while having
a look and voting for the best pictures in the photography contest. Two
photos from Italy and one from Slovakia were the winners.
At 12:30, all the students took part in some adapted games, organized by
the PE teachers from IES Lázaro Carreter. It was a whole success as the
students enjoyed these games a lot and they had the chance to feel as
disabled people may feel in certain circumstances.
