EPSF 11th national Symposium-2012report

The Egyptian Pharmaceutical Students Federation EPSF is holding every year two large main events (EPSF

Annual Conferences – EPSF Annual Symposium) to gather all pharmacy students from 27 pharmacy Faculties

all over Egypt with each others in one of the universities of Egypt with hosting of the scientific association in

that university by the aim of sharing experience, knowledge and discussing about how to develop our activities

to serve our students and the society.

Preparations:- we started preparation for this event from I was president of BSPSA 2009 to 2011 as it was part of my plan So when BSPSA board 2011-2012 decided to appointed me as the chairperson of EPSF 11th symposium , I started immediately my work exactly 29 days before beginning of the symposium. Firstly ,I made a point system for evaluation of all BSPSA members to choose the most qualified team to show the shining face of our faculty and association . Secondly,After selection of Symposium board we started to discuss together symposium plan , duration, possible partners, financial plan and the time we have for preparation . Finally, we determined the finial steps for all details of the symposium and the tasks for each member in the team.

Symposium in details: Date:- from 18to 21 April 2012

Accommodations and sessions halls :

A-Accommodation : Bani Sueif university conference center hotel, B-Sessions halls :faculty of pharmacy halls and Bani Sueif University theatre

Promotion plan:- We printed 2500 flyers,300 posters and 4 mega Banners to be distributed in all faculties of pharmacy around Egypt in addition to our faculty. We made in cooperation with EPSF 3 videos for social network media contained words from Dr/ Amin Lotfy, president of our university, Dr /khaled elsheemy ,acting dean of our faculty and BSPSA team to welcome students from all universities.

Theme and sessions:- A-Theme was ( New Trends in Pharmacy) B-Sessions : 1-Pharm D (By phD. Mohamed Emam, Head of clinical pharmacy Deprt. at Bani Sueif University) 2-Gene therapy, Genomics (By Dr/Mohamed el Dawy-Founder of faculty of pharmacy Tanta University) 3- Volunteer work culture ( By Dr/Eslam Sayed, HR Training Coordinator of Americana Egypt) 4- Professional CV and travel to work abroad requirements ( By Dr/ Mohamed ELdeeb, Business Development Manager at Delta Pharm Bio)

Opening ceremony : It was the largest opening ceremony in the history of EPSF conferences and symposiums as the Guest of

Competitions: There were two competition during the Symposium

Social events : we organized very distinctive social program that made all participants very happy with this program and thanks us very much for it.

( Arabian nights , BSPSA Anniversary ,Fun Night, surprise)

Partners:- We were only have one month for preparation for this huge event so we had only about 2 weeks to make partnerships which put us under severe pressure but we did all we could do to make deals with our partners

university. There was a negotiation with Sanofi -Aventis to support us in the symposium but they give there approval too late before the beginning of the symposium by 5 days so we apologized for them because we were printed the promotion materials and sent there to all universities.

Media coverage: We organized media conference after the opening ceremony by the attendance of Dr/Mohamed Abdel

BSPSA additions in EPSF Symposium:- -We succeeded to organize the largest symposium in EPSF history as it was the first one 4 days. -Our symposium was the first one to be attended by the president of Egyptian Pharmacists Syndicate since the establishing of EPSF in 1982. -It was the first time to held Fam Lab Competition and media conference during EPSF Symposium.

Obstacles:- -The Short time available for preparation as we only had one month. -Some financial problems related to registration of students from external universities but we managed.

Conclusions:- -The university and faculty administration gave us all kind of support and help us to show the shining face of our university and faculty so BSPSA team should try to keep good relations with them. -the big events like EPSF 11th symposium are very important to be hosted by BSPSA as this give high spirit, experience ,motivation to BSPSA members and more of faculty students know about BSPSA&EPSF . - I want to thank all the BSPSA team that shared in the Symposium for their efforts , high spirit and cooperation with me to do our best which made all EPSF associations stand to greet us during the General Assembly at the end of the Symposium especially EPSF 11th Symposium Board: EPSF11th Symposium vice chairperson, scientific sessions coordinator :Mohamed yasein .
