Come and be a part of a writing community where your words are welcomed and all voices are heard!

Our program focuses on:

Exploring a new genre each week in a fun and fresh way

- from Short Stories and Screenwriting to Myth creation and the power of Persuasion

Developing Word Choice

Strengthening the Author’s Voice

Creating confidence and a capacity to communicate courageously

A Novel Idea’s Pen and Paper Club is a creative writing community that teaches the transformative power of words. Our students learn to face the blank page with anticipation and a sense of boundless possibility. At the end of the year, work chosen by each individual writer will be published in a bookstore-quality school anthology. This collection will not only grace your library shelves at home, but FRA’s, as well! In the process of this creation, students learn project management, team-building and editing techniques -- skills that will take them from the classroom to the boardroom… and beyond!

ANI’s Pen and Paper Club is now entering its 6th year, and we have served more than 600 students all over the city of Nashville! ANI’s lead instructor, Wendy Martin, who also serves as the Head of Operations for the Southeast Region, will head each session. She is a high school English teacher, curriculum developer and children’s book author and has helped kids crack their creative genius for over 15 years.

Music Matters

Shy children may feel comfortable expressing themselves through music.

Reading and playing music activates all regions of the brain.

Studying music encourages self-discipline and diligence. These are traits that lead to effective study and work

habits.

Studies show that learning music early significantly improves spatial-temporal scores that are useful for math

and science!

John Jackson has been playing guitar for 40 years, touring with Bob Dylan, Tom Jones, Lucinda Williams and

Shelby Lynne, to name a few. **Since John is a professional musician, he may miss a few lessons due to travel.

If so, those days will be made up before Christmas break.
