ELEVENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME GOD’S SAVING TIME We are a people who schedule, plot, and plan. Even in the summertime, we live in a world of adjusted clocks and tight schedules. Even in the summertime, we are obsessed with time, striving to own it, stretch it, or save it, if only to waste it in the end. Thank goodness that even in summertime we are reminded that God’s salvation— “God’s Saving Time”—is always at hand. Thank goodness that we are able to plot the time of summer in order to consecrate it and there encounter the God who orders not only all things, but all time as well. Whatever grows around us on the windowsill or in the garden, whatever appears fresh at the market, can remind us of plotting time and of the surprises of time’s unfurling, the benevolent time of God’s coming. That is why this time is as good a time as any to nurture the inner ear, the inner eye, and to move to the rhythm of God’s saving time, God’s surprising salvation. PASS A GOOD TIME In Louisiana’s Cajun country, folks invite one another over to “pass a good time, cher.” We who are church are here to pass a good time, to tend to one another, to tend to God’s good earth and our good gardens. We are here to be wide awake to God’s saving time within all and through all. We pass a good time here but once, however, so we must take time to proclaim God’s timeless faithfulness through summer’s short nights and to sing of God’s endless kindness at summer’s fresh new dawn. We must give ourselves and others the time to grow and prosper under the watchful eye of God, who, as an old prayer reminds us, dwells with us in time “beyond the region of thunder, in a land always peaceful, always serene and bright with . . . resplendent glory.” Today’s Readings: Ezekiel 17:22–24; Psalm 92:2–3, 13–14, 15–16; 2 Corinthians 5:6–10; Mark 4:26–34 Copyright © 2005, World Library Publications. ELEVENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

GOD’S SAVING TIME

We are a people who schedule, plot, and plan.

PASS A GOOD TIME

In Louisiana’s Cajun country, folks invite one another over to “pass a good time, cher.” We who are church are here to pass a good time, to tend to one another, to tend to God’s good earth and our good gardens. We are here to be wide awake to God’s saving time within all and through all. We pass a good time here but once, however, so we must take time to proclaim God’s timeless faithfulness through summer’s short nights and to sing of God’s endless kindness at summer’s fresh new dawn. We must give ourselves and others the time to grow and prosper under the watchful eye of God, who, as an old prayer reminds us, dwells with us in time “beyond the region of thunder, in a land always peaceful, always serene and bright with . . . resplendent glory.”

PARISH ANNOUNCEMENTS June 13, 2021

CATHOLICISM – Lesson 7 – Word made flesh, True Bread of Heaven - The Mystery of the Liturgy and the Eucharist. Meet us at the Parish Hall Monday June 14 following the 6 pm Mass – for the seventh

film as Bishop Robert Barron explores the notion “all value is summed up in the liturgy, the supreme act by which we commune with God.” Considered by the Catholic Faith to be “the source of summit” of its

identity and mission, the Eucharist is the central practice of the Church’s culture.

DDF – In order to reach our goal, WE NEED YOUR PARTICIPATION. To date our parish has received $10,602. toward our $12,485 goal! It translates to 84.92% of its goal for 2021. Thank you! We are only $1,883 away from our goal.

We ask everyone to participate, as you are able. Across the diocese, $1,678,941 has been pledged toward the $2,650,000 goal, which is 63% of our goal. The diocese and Church in southern Missouri need your participation.

It is highly fitting Christ should have wanted to remain present to His Church in this unique way. Since Christ was about to take His Departure from His own in His visible form, He wanted to give us His sacramental presence; since He was about to offer Himself on the cross to save us, He wanted us to have

the memorial of the love with which He loved us “to the end”, even to the giving of His Life. In His Eucharistic presence He remains mysteriously in our midst as the one who loved us and gave Himself up for us and

He remains under signs expressing and communicating this love. Next First Friday is July 2.

There will be a special collection this Sunday June 13 for the Catholic Communication Campaign. Communication Builds Community – Half of your donation will stay in our diocese to support local

communication efforts. The other half will support national projects in the US and around the world. Learn more at www.usccb.org/ccc.

RELIGIOUS FREEDOM WEEK 2021: Solidarity in Freedom takes place from Tuesday-Tuesday June 22-29. The week begins with the Feast of St. John Fisher and St. Thomas More, ends with the Solemnity of Sts. Peter and Paul, and includes the Feast of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist. Catholics are encouraged to pray and act each day for religious freedom. The Pray-Reflect-Act series aims to help Catholics build solidarity with people of faith who are

persecuted abroad and find strength to carry out the mission of the Church here in the US.

The Diocese of Springfield-Cape Girardeau seeks qualified applicants to fill the following positions: Diocesan Associate Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry and Accounting/Employee Benefits Position at the
