About the Institution
Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology is a
premier institute imparting knowledge in the areas of
Engineering, Science and Technology, Dental and
Management. Since its inception, Sathyabama along with
various research sectors has made considerable progress in
presuming continual growth and evolution in knowledge and
understanding of Engineering and Technical education by
organizing national conferences in the field of scientific
interest thereby benefitting society by providing the next
generation of scientists, Engineers and technocrats with a
deeper knowledge.
About the Department
The Department of Electronics and Communication
Engineering, established in the year 1988 offering UG
Program on Electronics and Communication Engineering.
The prime focus of our department is to impart quality
education with a strong emphasis on converting basic
science to technology, through hands on training, workshops
and research in the frontiers of VLSI Design, Embedded
systems, Nanotechnology, Image Processing and wireless
communications. We enjoy a symbiotic relationship with
many leading institutions and industries in India. The
curriculum has been framed such a way that they cater to the
needs of core electronics and communication companies and
software giants like TCS, CTS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture,
Mind Tree, etc.,. Our students not only excel in state of art
technologies in their field of specialization but also show
excellent skill in problem solving, software development
and testing. They also cultivate leadership qualities and team
work with a positive attitude. It opens a wide spectrum of
opportunities for placement in dream companies not only
limited to their area of study. Our department faculty has
successfully completed projects sponsored by government
and R&D organizations like DST, TNSCST, DRDO, BRNS,
BRFST, DAE and UBA.

just the right way to prepare final year students to thrive
academically, personally and socially, and assist them in
exploring their options after their professional education.
Guest Talk using Skype
Modern teaching pedagogy refers broadly to the theory and
practice of education, and how this influences the growth of
learners. The pedagogy adopted by instructors shape actions,
judgments, learning, understandings of students and their
needs. As part of the modern pedagogical initiative, the
department of Electronics and Communication Engineering
has organized a guest talk using Skype video call. Skype is a
wonderful tool that brings in professionals into the
classroom irrespective of location and time constraints.
Dr. Kadirvelayutham Prasanna, H.C. Ørsted Post-
Doctorate Fellow from Technical University of Denmark,
Anker Engelunds Vej 1, Lyngby, Denmark addressed first
year students of ECE department under the title "Modern
Battery Technologies in Electric Vehicles and Opportunities
for Advancement" on 2nd August, 2019 between 2pm and
3pm IST. It was indeed a wonderful presentation. Students

Modern Teaching Pedagogical Initiative
Webinar
Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering
has organized a Webinar on “VLSI Design using Verilog
HDL” to final year ECE students on 24th July, 2019. This
webinar has been a great opportunity for students to
understand VLSI design and Verilog Coding from Industry
expert Mr. P. R. Sivakumar, CEO - Maven Silicon,
Bangalore – 560076. The program has been designed and
delivered in an amazing combination of Video lectures &
Labs to empower the students with an all round
understanding of Verilog HDL. The key feature this
Webinar was its interactive elements and its ability to have
given, received and discussed information in real-time.
On 9th August, 2019 Department of Electronics and
Communication Engineering has organized a Webinar on
the topic "Fundamentals of PCB Design" for ECE third year
students. The students were addressed by Dr. Howard
Johnson, Electrical Engineer, Signal Consulting
Incorporation, USA who is known for his consulting work
and commonly referenced books on the topic of signal
integrity, especially for high speed electronic circuit design.
On 9th August, 2019, Department of Electronics and
Communication Engineering conducted a Quiz event on the
concepts of "Basic Semiconductor Electronic Devices"
using Kahoot! which is a game-based learning platform,
used as educational technology in educational institutions. It
is one of the modern teaching pedagogical initiatives.
Second year students from ECE department actively
participated in the multiple-choice quiz accessed via a web
browser or the Kahoot app using mobile phone. The event
