CLEAN CITIES QUESTION OF THE MONTH
2015 SMARTWAY AFFILIATE CHALLENGE HONOREE
2015 INAUGURAL CLEAN AIR GOLF OUTING
Wisconsin Clean Cities (WCC) has been named a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) 2015 SmartWay Affiliate Challenge Award Honoree. EPA recognized WCC at the Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA) Capital Ideas and Exhibition Conference today in Orlando, Florida. As one of seven organizations nationwide to receive this honor, WCC is the only clean cities coalition to win this award.
"The mission of WCC directly aligns with that of the SmartWay Program," said Lorrie Lisek, Executive Director of WCC. "We are honored to be recognized by the US EPA as a SmartWay Affiliate Challenge Honoree. By providing education and outreach opportunities that encourage the use of alternative fuels, vehicles and technologies, WCC continually addresses issues that affect our air quality and overall quality of life." Advanced Vehicle Technology Services, Inc. or Advanced VTech is a full service fleet and automotive maintenance and repair business located in Buffalo Grove, IL. The facility serves customers in Northern Indiana, the Chicago area, and Southern Wisconsin.
Advanced VTech is focused on bringing the benefits of alternative fuel technology (CNG, LNG, LPG, and even electro-mechanical systems) to businesses and municipalities. The management team consists of Co-Owners Ronald Sheble and David Hagopian, VP of Service Gary Justus, and VP of Sales Tom Mazzenga. The technical team are ASE certified technicians with over 100 years of combined experience. The expert staff at Advanced VTech not only service alternative fuel systems that they install but also service all types of vehicles from over the road tractors to light industrial equipment. They are certified installers of alternative fuel systems offered by AGA Systems, Altech-Eco, BayTech, Clean Air Power, ICOM, Landi USA, M-Tech Solutions, Omnitek Engineering, PowerFuel, Stag USA, and AG Centrum. They also service and or install Ford QVM approved systems from Altech-Eco, Landi USA, and Westport.
Aside from the immediate environmental benefit, many applications can have an economic pay back in less than two years, especially for large fuel use heavy duty trucks where on-site compression of natural gas is available. Advanced VTech is also a center of excellence in the development of customized fuel storage solutions for natural gas systems and is currently working with municipalities in various pilot studies. In April of 2015 Advanced VTech along with the three Clean Cities coalitions from the Midwest region hosted a Police Alternative Fuel Summit.
The summit focused on the use of alternative fuels to power police vehicles. Over 100 people were in attendance and nearly 30 municipalities came to learn and share information on the environmental and economic savings for using alternative fuel in police fleets.
Advanced VTech is working with AGA Systems on designing a fuel tank package for the 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe Police Pursuit Vehicle and is assisting the City of Naperville in the design specification for a CNG Police vehicle specification. Advanced VTech is also the area installation partner with Stag USA that has a product offering for the Ford Police Interceptor platform for the Ford Sedan and Utility. Stag and AGA are the only companies that have achieved true Bi-Fuel EPA certification for the Ford and Chevrolet platforms, respectively.
In addition, Advanced VTech is the area partner with Lightning Hybrids, a manufacturer of hydraulic hybrid regenerative braking drive systems for fleet vehicles like buses and delivery trucks. These systems provide better fuel economy, less brake wear, increased power and reduces engine emissions. There are many diesel vehicles for which there is currently no EPA approved alternative fuel solution. In these instances and many others the Lightning Hybrids solution makes great sense!
For more information on the services and products available at Advanced VTech, please visit us at www.AdvancedVTech.com or contact us at 847-777-5000.
The offering from these systems suppliers apply to a wide variety of light, medium and heavy duty vehicles. Advanced VTech services all types of alternative fuel vehicles but only installs US EPA certified solutions.
