Effective Brochure Design

What is a Brochure?

A brochure is an informational pamphlet or leaflet advertising an organization, business, event, product, or service.

It is usually a small printed paper piece made from a single piece.

The most common types of brochures are the bi-fold (four panels) and the tri-fold (six panels).

What is the Problem?

Researchers have found that the content of brochures do not effectively remove misconceptions certain groups may have

Brochures do not address the attitude groups have towards issues like health risks as well as their beliefs and values

Why is there a Problem?

Though brochures are an effective form of communication, there is a lack of understanding as to how to most effectively convey information to minority groups

Though minority groups are at a higher risk to some health and safety hazards, brochure design doesn’t effectively convey information the needed

How to Pass the Information

Content To help spread the information, try and break

common misconceptionsImages

Imagery is extremely important to help spread information

Pictures of survivors and family members can help create a stronger message through a sense of association with the audience

When adding pictures, keep the images realistic and simple, to help the target audience identify with it

Color and Design Scheme Use colors and designs that have a cultural

significance to the target audience

Reinforce Statistics Using graphics to reinforce statistics are good to show

what certain statistics mean
