Advanced Mobile Location (AML)- Background
• In US and Japan there are high accuracy emergency call positioning solution that can help rescue services locate a person in need
• In the rest of the world much less accurate positions are available (typically base station location from operators)
• Advanced Mobile Location (AML) will make it possible for the rescue services in Europe to get access to high accuracy locations from the devices in a very easy and reliable way.
This will save lives

• Sony welcomes a Android native AML solution.
Sony’s AML roll out- Trial preparations
• The emergency call center or the operator needs to implement support for receiving AML SMS(regular SMS), and match it with incoming call and the operator reported base station position
• Sony needs to know:• Which emergency number(s) to use
• Which number should receive AML SMS
• Which operators will take part in the trial
• Sony configures the AML solution per MCC and MNC
• Operators need to secure that SMS is allowed during emergency call
• Operator and emergency service need to agree on how to handle trial calls• If possible, blacklist the test devices phone number at the emergency call center
• (Optional) The operators should allow the location SMS to be sent free of charge
