Towards Vision for QC: TheEV2 Implementation Story

of CCBCClaiming Quezon City for Christ.

It is the exact phrase that would summarizewhat Capitol City Baptist Church (CCBC)envisioned to happen in Quezon City throughEE. The CCBC saw Everyday Evangelism(EV2) as an easy yet flexible tool inimplementing their evangelism training, which they are hopeful to eventually leadthem in realizing their dream.

For the past years, CCBC observed that onlyfew of those who have taken EvangelismExplosion or EV2 Clinics are able toimplement the ministry when they go back totheir churches. To ensure they are assisted, four churches were adopted by CCBC to bemobilized in evangelism and equippingministry. These churches include Bliss Christian

    Fellowship (Balintawak, Quezon City),..

    An extraordinary present

Just when you think you can spend Christmas holiday

and take a break also from sharing the Gospel, thinkagain. As apostle Paul said, preach the word; be readyin season and out of season. Paul may not necessarilythink of Christmas when he wrote these words; point is,always use every opportunity to share the good news.

Dr. Ken Silva, EE Resource Senior Vice President, blogged these seven ways you can witness to your familythis season. Just remember to be sensitive to the leadingof the Spirit and ask for wisdom that you might join

God in what He is doing rather than forcing anything tohappen.1. Read the Christmas Story (Luke 2) and share arecent God Story of your own (something God hasdone in your experience). You shall call His nameImmanuel, which translated means, God is with us.This is how I know that God has been with me

    2. Have the children enact the manger scene. Read itfrom Luke 2 in The Message. T-shirts make great

    head coverings and bathrobes tunics.

    3. Around the dinner table, have everyone share WhatChristmas means to me. You can share the gift offorgiveness or salvation.

    4. Wrap a present labeled From God. Place a babyJesus in it along with a verse to be read, John 3:16-18.You may want to share, What Jesus the gift of Jesushas meant to me this year.

    5. If you have young children, serve a birthday cake

after dinner decorated with Happy Birthday Jesus.

    from page 1...

    6. Empowering leadership

Among EE ministry goals is to raise leaders. Guided by 2Tim 2:2, EE participants graduate to become EE trainerswho will multiply others in the ministry. The objective to

keep passing the baton produces leadership of a very highcaliber. Many believers who are trained in EE go on tobecome trainers and eventually to become church leaders.

    7. Developing regular prayer

As part of the training, each EE trainee is required torecruit two prayer partners who will pray for him or herthroughout the 13-week semester. EE teams also praytogether before and after their OJT calls.

A church cannot learn to pray in a vacuum where there islittle or no service to the Lord. Certainly, when the churchlooks outward to the lost, it will focus itself to the reasonthat Jesus came to die. The Lord Himself says, Ask theLord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into hisharvest field. (Matt 9:38)

    8. Developing friendly church members

A church implementing EE training is on the lookout forprospects with whom they can share their faith.Accordingly, team members often go out of their way tomeet new friends to connect with and to share. Thisattitude brings freshness to any congregation with theeventual addition of newcomers.

    9. Meeting the needs of the community

EE teams need to connect with people first before sharing. In the quest to connect, the church visits the community, discovers its needs and raises resources to meet those needs. Then and only then, does the church earn the right tocommunicate the gospel. This cycle is repeated again andagain in the experience of those who use EE.

    10. Living for others.

EE trainees make a commitment to go out on OJTs weeklyfor the duration of the EE training semester, we make adecision to live for others and not for ourselves (2 Cor 5:15).Jesus died for us to leave us an example that we should nolonger live for ourselves. We are showing by our lifestylethat other people are more important than our own

comforts and selfish ambitions. We proclaim that Jesus isLord of our lives!

Share how Jesus birth provides gifts for us.

    6. Research The Story of the Candy Cane on lineand share it as a way to give your own personal

testimony of Gods gift of Grace.

    7. Research the history behind the real SaintNicholas, he was a believer you know. Check itout at www.christianitytoday.com/ch/news/2004/nick.html

    The Gospel for All Ages

Nobody told me about God except you!

Her response was very short; behind it is a life-changing experience. Sheryl (not her realname) is Phcyckies friend, a thirteen-year old child who joined one of the trainings inGen. Santos City. Prior to her knowledge of the Gospel, Sheryl always had conflict withPhcyckie. Their conversation about God and the conversion of the former opened thedoors for the two to become close friends.

Phcyckie is only one of the many children whose lives were changed because of theEvangelism Explosion's Hope for Kids (H4K) ministry. Based on the successful Kids EEdiscipleship training ministry from EE International, H4K was developed through a jointeffort between EE and One Hope.

Clarify the Gospel for kids. Assist them to become witnesses for Jesus Christ. Bring othersto a saving faith in Jesus Christ. These are the three main purposes of H4K. Keepingthese aims help a lot of EE implementing countries in evangelizing the young ones.

In EE Philippines, promising results were seen since its kickoff in 2010. Of the total number of trainings that year, including those of other evangelism materials such as XEE, Ev2, Classic EE, etc., 36.6% are from H4K alone. Majorityof the professions of faith (POF) or the number of people who prayed to receive the Lord, as well as individuals whoheard the Gospel were also from H4K, which is more than 50%. EE trainees have also increased at 44.7% of the totalnumber of clinicians that year.

The Lord has truly blessed the ministry to the kids of EE Philippines. In its second year, it has already exceeded thenumber of clinics conducted, the number of trainees, and the headcount of those who have heard and received JesusChrist. This is in comparison to the results for the rest of the EE ministries combined.

Per November 10 data, here are the results: H4K produced 59.6% of the total number of clinics this year; 69.6% of theclinicians; 78.6% of those who heard the Gospel; and 80.4% of the POFs.

Not only that H4K paved the way for more harvest of souls, it also helped churches in their childrens ministry. EE wasalso benefited in return, as partnership with them would become easier.

It has become our spring board to partnership with many churches, as Rnell Arsenal, Field Coordinator for Visayas, would put it.

What sets H4K apart from most children ministries is that the high quality training and materials are free for the church;free for the children and for the friends they reach. Materials include a Teachers Manual, Student Activity Book, andthe Pathway to Hope witnessing booklet. No wonder many churches adopted it!

Moreover, H4K appeals to kids primary learning styles utilizing songs, games, crafts, skits, and illustrations. Every unit

includes some object that provides a concrete illustration of one of the key Gospel concepts that is taught in that unit.Through this approach, kids are able to effectively learn and retain the Hope for Kids Gospel.

From top to bottom, the materials are biblically based. They incorporate tested and proven methods so kids not onlylearn to share the Gospel, but also are given a foundation for spiritual growth for life!

EE believes the Great Commission is for everyone, not just adults or even youth. Hope for Kids lays a foundation forspiritual growth in children and enables youngsters to respond with excitement and enthusiasm to Jesus command to allof us to be His witnesses. It develops a worldview that is framed by the recognition that without faith in Jesus we are alllost in our sins.

For Phcyckie, she has now truly understood what trusting Jesus and being His witness are to be like; and that she learnedthrough the Hope for Kids. She did not only find a new friend whom once she had conflict with. She is now trained to

lead other children of her age to trust in Jesus Christ, the one whom every persons conflict need to be settled with.

...Filinvest Community Christan Fellowship(Filinvest Homes, Quezon City), TatalonChristian Fellowship (Tatalon, QuezonCity), and Gerizim Evangelical Church (aChinese congregation in Binondo, Manila).

    How implementation is done

CCBC offered to assist the church through

the pastor and the leadership how they canimplement. Those who signified theirwillingness to join come to CCBC for ajoint orientation of the training, lettingthem know of CCBCs commitment andthe churches responsibilities as well.

Among these responsibilities include initialrecruitment of trainees, provision ofweekly contacts, preparation of trainingroom and snacks for the participants. Onthe other hand, CCBC committed to sendregular facilitators and team members toeach of the four churches.

Every Sunday afternoon for eight weeks, trainers were sent to do EV2 training thatincludes Share Your faith (SYF) during thefirst meeting.

The training concluded with a jointgraduation program held in CCBC lastJuly 29.

    Tremendous results

As a result of this initiative, a total of 45believers from these churches wereequipped and were able to finish the first

    semester of the training.

Moreover, there were 240 out of 270individuals who prayed to receive the LordJesus Christ during the on-the-job trainingof the teams. The breakdown per churchare as follows: 75 out of 77 in Balintawak,58 out of 61 in Filinvest, 69 out of 71 inTatalon, and 38 out of 61 in Binondo.

Gerizim Evangelical Church has alreadyconducted and finished their own 2ndsemester of training last November 6 whilethe three other churches have included thetraining in their 2013 plans. CCBC hopedthat these churches would continueimplementing this equipping ministry.

    Together for the Gospel

CCBC has been a model implementingchurch for 25 years. Adopting andmobilizing these four churches is part oftheir vision for all churches in QC to worktogether for Vision CQCC: ClaimingQuezon City for Christ.

We have been aware of other churches thatdo this same approach of helping smallercongregations in EE implementation. What makes CCBC unique from thoseexisting implementations is that it is thefirst local church helping four otherchurches simultaneously mobilize theirevangelism ministry.

CCBC now looks forward to even partnerwith more churches in the coming years.Dr. Rene Atienza, EE Vice President forAsia is one of the prime movers in this

    local church EV2 implementation.
