Target

Description

Objectives

• To train students to work in international companies, providing knowledge of the

local business environment in Russia;

• To prepare students to deal with cross cultural differences and equip them with

cross-functional competencies and management tools required by a general

management role:

Understand the influences of Russian local competitive environment and its

connections with daily activity;

Fill in the gaps in cross cultural knowledge, with a specific focus on preparing

participants to face the challenges of a general management role in Russia;

Make participants ready to make decisions, having a clear view on the

impacts on the overall value creation on the Russian market.

• Graduates, specialists, master and bachelor (3rd, 4th year) degree students, for

whom the next career step implies having a responsibility in multinational companies,

operating in Russia

• Requirements: fluent English (written and spoken).

2015:

1. German management innovations and know-how in Russia. Could we apply German

management innovations and know-how in Russia? Their efficiency and effectiveness?

2. Synergetic approach of building German – Russian collaboration. How to reach German –

Russian synergy?

3. Peculiarities of managing culturally diverse (German – Russian) teams. How to develop

initiatives, creativity, and involvement of Russian employees? Methods of teambuilding? Quality

relations in the team? Differentiation of responsibilities in the team?

4. Cross- cultural peculiarities of the decision-making in Global companies. Who make the

decisions? Initiatives & responsibilities? Should ALL decisions be done by the boss in Russia?

How long does it take to make an important (and less important) decisions?

5. Global companies as a “Dream employer “: major selection criteria, overall motivation regarding

work, engagement.

6. If I became an expatriate in Russia: what should I know? Lessons learned for carrier

development and efficient performance. How You can Become more Productive?

7. Key success factors of Doing Business in Russia: example of German companies.

Deadlines:

Students are strictly recommended to follow the deadlines of the assignments.

Failure to comply with deadlines reduces the grades by:

20% - delay 1 – 3 days;

30% - delay 4 - 5 days;

40% - delay 6 – 7 days;

50% - delay more than 7 days.

after 2 weeks of delay assignment will be graded 0

Education control forms & deadlines

The criteria for the evaluation of students’ knowledge and skills are as follows:

• Internship 40%; October 5th, 2015 – March 29h, 2016

• Team project, incl.: 40%; October 5th, 2015 – March 29h, 2016

Theoretical review 10%, Deadline – December 19th, 2015

Data gathering 20%, Deadline – February 27th, 2016

Analytical part 10%, Deadline – March 21st, 2016

• Experience - Sharing seminar 20% ; October 1 - 2, 2015

Visual materials, slides 10% Deadline – March 25st, 2016

Individual oral presentation 10%.

Final aggregated grade

• The grade for the results on team project is calculated in the following way (Grade):

Gteam project = 0,1·G theor. review + 0,2·Gdata gathering + 0,1·Ganalitical part;

• The FINAL aggregated grade is on a 10-point scale and is composed of the grade for the team project, internship and the sharing experience module.

The aggregated grade is calculated as follows:

Gfinal = 0,4·Ginternship + 0,4·Gteam project + 0,2·Gexper. sharing module

Academic integrity

• 1. Each student in this module is expected to abide by the Higher School of Economics’ Academic Honesty Policy. Any work submitted by a student in this course for academic credit will be the student's personal work. For this course, collaboration is allowed in the following instances: group discussion, group projects and presentations.

• 2. Students are encouraged to study together and to discuss information and concepts covered in discussions with professors and tutors. You can give "consulting" help to or receive "consulting" help from such students. However, this permissible cooperation should never involve one student having possession of a copy of all or part of work done by someone else, in the form of an e-mail, an e-mail attachment file, a digital copy or a hard copy. Should copying occur, both the student who copied work from another student and the student who gave material to be copied will automatically receive a zero for the assignment.

• Penalty for violation of this Policy can also be extended to include failure of the course and University disciplinary action.
