PROGRAM OBJECTIVESThe purpose of the Eastern Shore MedicalSymposium is to provide a comprehensive review of pertinent topics in primary caremedicine. By discussing both the evidencebehind each selected topic and practical approaches for incorporating new informationand processes into their practices, we striveto assist participants in continually improvingthe patient care they provide. At the end ofthis activity, participants should be able to:

Assess new approaches for the screening, diagnosis, management and prevention ofclinical issues frequently seen by the familypractitioner and primary care physician, in-cluding hypertension, cancer, neuro-ophthal-mologic disorders, tuberculosis and sleepdisorders.

• Identify and implement into practice the latest recommendations and updates inobesity, diabetes, atrial fibrillation, acutecoronary syndrome, gastrointestinal issues,women’s health and adult and pediatric immunizations.

• Critique and discuss current medical literature, interesting cases in medical consultations, issues in hospital medicineand transformations in primary care practices.

• Identify and implement into practice appropriate strategies for addressing currentissues facing the family practitioner and primary care physician, including hormonereplacement therapy, psychopharmacologyand long term care planning.

• Assess their individual practices in light ofthe information and discussions during thecourse, and identify specific strategies to implement as part of a continuing improvement process for their practices.

The Bay Center and Cove is located behindthe Hyatt Place Dewey Beach hotel.

Please bring a jacket or sweater to the conference, as the room is air conditioned andtemperature may vary. In addition, banquetchairs are provided for seating. You may wantto bring a seat cushion for added comfort.

PARKING

Parking at the Hyatt Place Dewey Beach hotelparking garage is for hotel guests only. Meteredparking near the hotel and Bay Center andCove is $1.50 per hour. Permit parking at theRusty Rudder restaurant is available for $15per day. All parking is limited.

TRANSPORTATION BETWEEN REHOBOTHAND DEWEY

Attendees with hotel accommodations in Rehoboth Beach will be able to take advantageof conference-provided trolley service. A central pick up and drop off will occur in Rehoboth Beach on a daily basis and will alsobe provided for the Tuesday and Wednesdayworkshops. More information will be providedprior to the conference.

Conference materials will be provided online.If you prefer to receive the course materials innotebook binder format or flash drive, please

note that there is an additional charge. Thenotebook binder format is an additional $95and the flash drive is an additional $25. To access the course materials electronically,please bring a fully charged laptop to the conference each day. A limited number ofelectrical outlets will be available as backup.
