Easter in England

This power point is all about how we celebrate Easter in England.

When do we celebrate Easter?

• These following days are when we celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ:

• Easter Thursday- This is the day when Christians remember that Jesus had the last supper with his disciples and gave them the bread and wine to be shared out between them all equally.

• Good Friday-This is when Christians recall when Jesus was crucified on the cross.

• Easter Sunday- This is when Christians rejoice as Jesus resurrects and greets ladies coming to see his body in the tomb and expect to find him but they find an angel.

Why do we celebrate Easter?

• We celebrate Easter to rejoice the fact that Jesus Christ Died and resurrected from Good Friday to Easter Sunday.

Easter Performances

• At our school, every year, years 3+4 perform for their parents a play about Spring or Easter.

• This year, they are doing a play about a Spring garden and about the plants that live there.

• We watched the performance and it was extremely suitable to the theme, Easter.

Evolving

• As most things evolve over time, so did the spirit of Easter. As Easter is celebrated in Spring, when baby animals are usually born, eggs represent new life and people usually used to (and sometimes still do) decorate eggs. But the spirit of Easter has evolved over time so now, the majority of children in England have chocolate eggs to also represent new life in Easter and therefore makes it more fun for the younger generation to celebrate.
