WHAT’S EASTER WEEK?The easter week is the annual christian

commemoration, Death and Resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth. It Starts on Palm Sunday and ends on Easter Sunday, although their celebration usually starts in several places on the Friday (Friday of Sorrows) and is considered part of the Easter Sunday. The date of the celebration is variable (between March and April depending on the year) and it depends on the lunar calendar.

Easter is preceded by Lent, which ends in the Passion Week where the Eucharist is celebrated on Maundy Thursday, the crucifixion of Jesus on Good Friday and Resurrection at the Easter Vigil on the night of Holy Saturday to Easter Sunday commemorates. During Easter Week take place numerous exhibitions of popular religiosity along the world, highlighting processions and passion plays.

EASTER WEEK IN SPAINEaster in Spain is celebrated with the exit to

the street demonstrations of faith, called processions, organized by a brotherhood. In Each Easter procession can include one or more sororities, each with its step or steps,

which are often religious images of Christ's Passion. Also listed penitents or Nazarenes with their badges. Penitents take part in processions that often wear conical hats, very characteristic in Spain and part of those hats the mask, cloth hiding their face, ensuring anonymous penance.

LAS MANTILLASLa Mantilla is the costume worn by some women accompanying their thrones, usually in front. It is a suit of mourning for the death of Christ. They always carry a comb that holds a blanket and dress in black.

THRONESWhile most of the Spanish geography are

called steps, in Málaga called throne placed the bier where will the Holy Image. Most brotherhoods have two thrones; the first of Christ and the second of the Virgin.

SAETASLa Saeta is a religious song which originated in the Andalusian folklore and runs without accompaniment during Ester Week processions. Usually sung before the pictures, from the balconies or floor stand.

BANDS OF MUSICMusic is a very important aspect of Easter, the majority of the brotherhoods carry band of bugles and drums, musical groups which incorporate trumpets and trombones, or complete music bands including saxophones, clarinets and other instruments. The bands are behind the steps and interpret different processional marches.
