During La Semana Santa Spanish towns have street parades every day.

In the processions, people carry and follow floats, known as pasos.

On the floats, there are statues of Jesus and La Virgen María. The floats are beatifully decorated with flowers, gold and silver ornaments and candles.

The heavy floats are carried by men called costaleros.

PALM SUNDAY “DOMINGO DE RAMOS”In the morning most Spanish people go to the church to celebrate the triumphal entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalen. In every town people carry palm and olives branches and follow the statue of Jesus.

This day marks the beginning of Holy Week.

MAUNDY THURSDAY “ JUEVES SANTO “There is a procession in the street. It recalls when Jesus celebrated his last supper with his disciples and he was betrayed by Judas.

Sometimes people buy easter eggs at the supermarket, or easter bunnies made of chocolate, because kids love chocolate, but it isn´t typical in Spain.
