e-Instruction Classroom Performance System (CPS) - IR

Each CPS set comes with the following materials: 1 installation CD (At my school, installation is usually done by the technology specialist and should not be attempted by anyone else) * To install, this CD should be inserted into the computer and an Install window will appear. Using the CPS: Step 1: Connect the USB cable to a USB port on your computer

Step 2: Locate the CPS icon on your desktop and open the program.

A Help Box will open as the program begins. This is a great resource for teachers who are new to using the CPS program. If help is not needed, just close that window.

You will now see 3 main tabs Step 3a: Click on the Prepare tab to create a new class, add students to the class and assign them numbers, and create new assessments; you are also able to import lessons or assessments from this tab If these have already been created, you may go to Step 3b

Step 3b: Click on the Engage tab to access lessons/ assessments. - Select your class from the drop-down

menu. - Locate your assessment from the drop-

down menu and click the box to select it. - Click on the Engage button

After a few moments, a toolbar will appear on your computer Step 4: Click on Next to begin your assessment

Your first assessment question will now appear Step 5: Each student will now use their assigned “clicker” to select their answer choice *Each student should point their remote toward the receiver as they make their answer selection

Step 6: After all answers have been recorded, click on the End button * Numbers at the bottom will turn dark blue when an answer has been successfully received

The correct answer will now appear, also showing the number of students who chose the different answer choices Step 7: Click the green arrow to go to the next question Step 8: Click on the red x when the entire assessment is complete

You will now see the toolbar again Step 9: Select Close When prompted if you are sure this is what you want to do, select Yes

You will now see the 3 main tabs again Step 10: Click on the Report tab to access the results of the assessment Right-click on your selected assessment and click on Generate

Step 11: Select and double-click on the

report you want to display Step 12: When finished reviewing results, you may exit the program
