DC’s Report (Cont.) Secretary role

Jacqui Patmore has decided to step down as Secretary of the Club. We thank her for her contribution over the past 6 months. Claire de Trafford has been nominated into the position until the next AGM in April. Welcome Claire.

DLPC Open Show

Our annual show is on Sunday December 14th at our grounds. There will be Showjumping also (both freshmans and open – this is not pony club jumping and pony club uniform is not required). All families are asked to provide at least one helper on the day regardless of whether your child is riding or not. This time will go towards your volunteer hours for the year. Gates open at 7am and we will require volunteers to man the gate from that time. See you on Sunday, your DC Caroline.

Its snake season – be aware – snakes have been seen on our grounds – stay away from long grass, drains and water ways.

Drysdale Leopold Pony Club awarded a City of Greater Geelong - Community Grant worth $3,000

November 2014

Recently the Drysdale Leopold Pony Club were successful in securing a Community Grant from the City of Greater Geelong to assist with the cost of working drawings for redeveloping the club rooms which are now nearly 40 years old.

The amount of $3,000 will be used to purchase working drawings for the proposed clubrooms redevelopment, which is well and truly needed.

This grant will enable the club to commence planning ahead and to start working towards fundraising and sourcing other possible grants to enable commencement of work on the re-development.

These drawings would  not  have  been  possible  without  the  generous  support  of  the  City  of  Greater  Geelong.

Kids Riding with Confidence Publisher: Trafalgar Square Format: Hardcover Author: Andrea and Markus Eschbach Pages: 32 Price: $24.95 (AUD) including GST http://www.horsebooks.com.au/product/0/91674/kids-riding-with-confidence-9781570767067/ More easy-to-learn lessons in natural horsemanship for kids! Andrea and Markus Eschbach, authors of the bestselling book How to Speak Horse, are back with another fabulously illustrated introduction to safe and fun horse handling and riding skills. Beginning with the basics of how horses use body language to communicate, Andrea and Markus teach children how to “listen” to what their horse is saying and “talk back” in a way he understands while leading, grooming, tacking up, and eventually riding. With a focus on building the horse’s trust in his human partner, young riders gain confidence through exercises on horseback. Best of all, Andrea and Markus nurture a habit of care and respect for the horse that helps prepare children for a lifetime of rewarding time spent in the company of horses.

Every child under 17 years must be accompanied at all times by a parent or nominated guardian at all pony club events. If parents cannot attend they must sign a form designating who will be the guardian on that day, and the guardian must also sign if in agreement. This is an important safety issue.
