For this month’s Discovery Day, we will be hosting a Battle of the Beans! Students will be invited to taste 3 different bean recipes, using pinto beans, black beans, and garbanzo beans. The students can then vote for their favorite bean right in the cafeteria by placing a dry bean into the bean can of choice. Students can look forward to seeing the winning recipe on the regu-lar menu next month!

Beans are such a lean and nutritious part of the diet. They double as both vegetable and protein. We hope to get some of the students excited about this vegeta-ble/protein and you too! Please come try a sample with us!

Discovery Day: April 17th

Sun Safety People usually develop skin cancer after years of neglecting their skin. Fortunately, there are several simple things you can do to help protect yourself:

Select the right sunscreen: Choose one

with SPF 30 or higher and apply it at least 20 minutes before going outside. Reapply every two hours even on cloudy days.

Wear clothes that protect your skin: Your best choices are clothes made of tightly woven fabric.

Wear a hat and sunglasses: Choose a hat with at least a 2-3 inch brim.

Limit your exposure: Especially between 1 0 a. m. and 4 p.m.

Examine your skin: Check head to toe at least every three months. Watch for new moles or changes in your skin or existing moles.

Teach children about sun safety: Start this at an early age.

Best of all…be a good role model! This is one of the most important things that you can do for your children and yourself.

Bullying is something that has be-

come a hot topic of discussion in

recent years.

There have been numerous stories in

the news and headlines involving

students of all ages and adults alike

involved in bullying behavior. There

is no doubt that we all have been af-

fected or know someone who has

been affected by bullying.

Please join us on Monday, April

30th at 6:00 PM as we take an in

depth look at what bullying is,

what it is not, and what we can do

to prevent and protect

our children from bullying at

McClure.
