Global Naviga@on Menu
When you first logged into NTULearn (aka Blackboard), there will be a prompt to ask you to explore the new Global naviga+on menu and set up your Blackboard profile. The Global Naviga+on menu for students includes: ✣ My Blackboard Profile – Profiles are private by default.
You can change your privacy secngs so you can share your profile with other Blackboard users.
✣ Home – Provides an overview of recent course grades, posts and calendar events.
✣ Posts – Lists posts & comments from blogs, journals, wikis, and discussion boards.
✣ Updates: Aggregates all no+fica+ons that users have elected to receive.

Global Naviga@on Menu ✣ Calendar – Review everything you have due and be
reminded of when you need to complete it regardless all course and personal events in a single view.
✣ My Grades – View your grades for each assignment, test, or ac+vity in all of your courses. Sort the grades by date or course.
✣ People – Find and interact with peers, classmates, and instructors.
✣ Messages -‐ Message users outside of the course environment.
✣ Spaces – Create and manage your own space to work and communicate collabora+vely with others in your academic network.

No@fica@ons Beside the Global Naviga+on menu, the No+fica+ons tab also provides an overview of +mely and ac+onable no+fica+ons from your course instructor(s). Some examples are: ✣ What’s New display no+ces of what is new in your
enrolled courses; ✣ Due Dates of assignments and tests; ✣ Things that Needs AUen@on; ✣ Upcoming due dates in the To Do; ✣ My Tasks; and ✣ Alerts
To view No@fica@ons: ① Login to NTULearn and go to the Home tab. ② Click the No+fica+ons tab.

Calendar The calendar displays a consolidated view of all your ins+tu+on, course, organiza+on, and personal calendar events. You can view events by day, week, or month. You can also view and organize upcoming and past events into categories. Course calendar events appear to all members of the course. Common entries include upcoming tests, due dates for assignments, or special lectures. Course items with due dates automa+cally appear in the course calendar. Only instructors may create course calendar events. To access Calendar: ① Login to NTULearn. ② Click on Global Naviga@on Menu and click on Calendar.

Personalising my Blackboard and Courses
You can personalise the my Blackboard and Courses tabs in Blackboard such that modules of interest/importance to you are displayed. Likewise, the page layout and colour scheme can also be customised. ① Login to NTULearn. ② To re-‐order the module(s) in the page, click on the
module tab and drag and drop it to preferred loca+on. You can also click on to shuffle the order of the module(s).
③ Click Add Module which is located on the top let-‐hand side of the page to add/remove the module(s) on the page.
④ You can select the colour scheme for the page by clicking on Personalise Page on the top right-‐hand side of the page.
⑤ Click Submit when done.

Upda@ng Module(s) Some of the modules in NTULearn such as the Course List in My Site and Courses can be modified to suit your preference. Editable modules have a icon on the top right-‐hand corner of the module. ① Login to NTULearn and go to the Courses page. ② Click on the icon of the module. ③ In Edit Course List, select the aeributes to be displayed
in each of your courses. ④ Click Submit when done.

Common Issues in Accessing Course Content Browser compa@bility issues Some Internet Explorer users may experience issues accessing NTULearn such as, missing or hidden menu op+ons as shown in the diagram below.

Solu@on: ① Under Tools in the menu bar, select Compa@bility View
seMngs as shown in the diagram below. For IE 8 and 9, you may have to make the menu bar visible by clicking on Alt key. For IE 10 in Windows 8 OS, you must be in Desktop mode.
② Check if "ntu.edu.sg" is added to Compa@bility View SeMngs as shown in the diagram below. If it is so, please remove it from the list and uncheck the 3boxes (except IE11).
③ Click on Close bueon to close the Compa@bility View SeMngs dialog box.

Common Issues in Accessing Course Content Content is outside of the NTULearn environment warning When you are accessing an external link from your course site, you may occasionally face this prompt, “The content below is outside of the Blackboard Learn environment” and you may not be able to access the link.To overcome the problem, right-‐click the link of the content and select Open in new window to display the content outside of the Blackboard system. Content Security Warning When you are accessing your course content in NTULearn, the internet browser may occasionally issue this prompt, “Do you want to view only the webpage content that was delivered securely?“. Select the op+on ‘No’ to proceed so as to allow your browser to display secured and non-‐secured content when prompted.

Viewing Online Video Lecture Recordings Some professors may have their lectures recorded and posted online in their course sites. To access these lecture recordings: ① Login to NTULearn and enter the course site. ② Navigate to the course area where the links for the
lecture recordings are posted. By default, all recorded lectures are posted in the Recorded Lectures area. Click the appropriate link to view the lecture recordings.

Viewing and Comple@ng Turni@n Assignment
Turni+n is an assignment tool in NTULearn. Through Turni+n, your wrieen paper submission will be scanned for text matching against millions of pages of archived and current webpages, publica+ons, journals and student documents. An Originality Report is then generated, showing the matching text and their sources, for you to review your work. ① Login to NTULearn and enter the course site. ② Navigate to the content area where the assignment is
posted. ③ Click View/Complete to do the submission. ④ Click I Agree—Con@nue to proceed the submission. ⑤ Fill in the Submission +tle and choose the file you want
to upload to Turni+n. ⑥ Click Upload when you are ready to turn in your
assignment. ⑦ Login again to view the Original Report (is allowed),
your instructor’s comments and grade for the assignment

Note: You will receive an acknowledgement when your paper is submieed successfully. If your course instructor has enabled the op+on for students to view the Originality Report, you can view it by clicking on the assignment link a day ater the submission of your assignment. This will take you to the assignment’s inbox where the Originality Report is located.

Groups The Groups area in the course site provides a plaXorm for social interac+on and allows you to share your personal experiences with your peers. You can sign up for the groups set up by your instructor. In the group space, you can share and work on group material collec+vely. You can also create your own group(s) under Self-‐enrolment Group without the involvement of your instructor. However, your instructor has the op+on to modify or restrict the access to such student-‐created groups. As such, it is recommended that you seek your instructor’s permission before crea+ng a self-‐enrolment group in your course. Note: Once you are enrolled in a group, only your instructor can remove you from the group. This applies to self-‐enroll and student-‐created groups as well. Contact your instructor about leaving a group.

Pos@ng Messages in Discussion Board
The Discussion Board is a tool for sharing thoughts and ideas about the course. You can post messages, read what others say, reflect and compose your responses on coursework, group projects, peer reviews and dialogue sessions. ① Login to NTULearn and enter the course site. ② Click Discussions to launch the Discussion Board. ③ Click the +tle of any discussion forum to view the
discussion threads. ④ Click Create Thread, compose your message and click
Submit when done. ⑤ To reply to a message, click the message thread
followed by Reply. Compose your message and click Submit when done.
Note: You can view the new posts in the discussion forum you par+cipated in at the Global Naviga+on menu > Posts too.

Course Blog is a shared on-‐line journal where you can post diary entries about your personal learning experiences in rela+on to the course. ① Login to NTULearn and enter the course site. ② Click Tools, followed by the Blog tool. ③ Click the Title or , followed by Open to view the
Blog. ④ To put in new blog entry for the course blog, click
Create Blog Entry. ⑤ Compose your blog message and click Save Entry as
Drab to save the blog as drat. ⑥ Click Post Entry to add to the list of blogs.

Course Wiki is a collabora+ve tool set up to allow your instructor, your peers and you to add and edit each other’s content.
① Login to NTULearn and enter the course site. ② Click Tools, followed by the Wikis tool. ③ Click on the Wiki +tle or , followed by Open to
open up a new Create Wiki Page. ④ Compose your blog message and click Submit to add in

Adding Content to Personal Drawer in My Filing Cabinet My Filing Cabinet is a web storage space which allows you to organise and manage learning content, digital assets, and ePorXolios in NTULearn. You can store, share, and publish content in your personal user folders. ① Login to NTULearn and click the My Filing Cabinet tab. ② Click My Content on the top let panel. ③ Click Upload. Click Upload Files to upload a single file
from local drive or click Upload Zip Package to upload mul+ple files or a ZIP file.
④ Click Submit when you are ready to upload the file or folder.

Crea@ng your ePordolio or Course ePordolio ePorXolio or course ePorXolio is an invaluable tool in academic and professional development, providing a powerful medium for you to efficiently collect and organise ar+facts representa+ve of your work achievement over +me. ① Login to NTULearn and click My Filing Cabinet portal
tab. ② Click Pordolios, followed by My Pordolio to create,
view and review your porXolios. ③ To view a porXolio from My Pordolios, click on the
PorXolio name. ④ You can create Basic PorXolio or Personal PorXolio,
following the steps given for each type. ⑤ Use the Contextual Menu to edit, build, share and
manage your porXolios.

Blackboard Connect Blackboard Connect, available as “Professor No+fica+on Tool” in NTULearn is mass no+fica+on tool which allows course instructor to send SMS, voice messages and email to students enroll in the course. The tool can be used to send alerts and no+fica+ons to you for important and +me-‐cri+cal course-‐related informa+on such as the cancella+on of a tutorial, change of lecture venue, assignment submission deadlines, etc. To keep updated with +me-‐cri+cal no+fica+ons, you are encouraged to update your mobile phone number you provided to OAS.

NTULearn Mobile Learn With the NTULearn Mobile Learn applica+on installed in your iOS and Android mobile device, you can access NTULearn to view your course announcements, check your grades, read your course materials, par+cipate in forum discussions and view lecture recordings. To download the Blackboard Mobile Learn app: ① Visit the respec+ve app store of the device your using:
(if you have a QR Code scanner on your device, you can scan the relevant codes to download the Blackboard Mobile Learn app)
② Install the app. ③ Search for
“Nanyang Technological University” in the list.
④ Login to NTULearn Mobile with your NTU Network account.

Clickers – Empowering and Engaging Learning
You can now ac+vely par+cipate in your lesson whether you are in the lecture theatre or tutorial room. Clickers, otherwise known as a learner response system, allows you to submit your responses to ques+ons posted by your instructor. This provides your instructor with a convenient and quick way to check for your understanding. It also allows for instant feedback on how your responses relate to those of your classmates. All undergraduates* will be issued a Clicker upon matricula+on. To use your Clicker correctly, you must set the channel on your device to match the channel used by your instructor. You may need to change the channel for each lesson that you aeend. Check with your instructor as to which channel you need to be on before you start clicking away.

Clickers – Empowering and Engaging Learning To set the channel on your clicker device: ① Press and release the “Ch” bueon. ② While the light is flashing red and green, enter the 2
digit channel code (i.e. channel 1 = 01, channel 21 = 21) as instructed by your instructor.
③ Ater the second digit is entered, press and release the “Ch” bueon.
④ A steady green light should appear. If not, repeat steps 1 to 3.
In the event that your clicker device is faulty, you can get it replaced for free. However, there will be a replacement charge for lost or damaged devices. For more informa+on on Clickers, go to hep://clickers.ntu.edu.sg
Note:
✴ Currently, the Schools of Art, Design and Media (ADM) and Sports Science and Management (SSM) do not use Clickers in their courses and hence, students from these schools will not be issued with a device upon matricula+on. For this group of students, interna+onal students and those that may not have been issued a device, you can be issued a device from the One Stop @ SAC (opposite OCBC Bank) if you require it for interdisciplinary modules in other Schools.

Accessing eUreka – Online Project Work Management System Project work is an important and essen+al part of the NTU curriculum. To facilitate online project work management and collabora+on amongst lecturers and students, eUreka, an Online Project Work management System is made available for use via the NTULearn System. eUreka enhances collabora+on through project work ac+vi+es and informa+on sharing with built-‐in tools that allow you to share files, send private messages, collaborate in blogs and discussion forums, as well as record your own learning reflec+ons. You can also set +melines to track and monitor your project progress along several tasks and ac+vi+es throughout the project dura+on.
