WHAT IS NAVIGATE?

Navigate is an online platform that supports you to assess and develop

your employability skills.

This is important because developing these skills will help you

to be more successful now and in the future.

HOW TO LOG IN

1. Type this address into any web browser:

login.navigate.com.uk

2. Type your user name and password

here.

HOW TO TAKE A SELF ASSESSMENT

1. Click ‘My Assessments’.

2. Click ‘Take Assessment’

The first thing you will do is complete the Navigate self assessment.

To do this, simply click ‘My Assessments’.

It is important that you answer the assessment questions openly and honestly

– there are no right and wrong answers.

You can ask for help if needed.

YOUR ASSESSMENT FEEDBACK

When you have completed the assessment you can view your results.

These are based on how you answered the assessment questions.

The results will help you to decide on the targets you want to select.

Remember, you will know best if the report is a true reflection of your skills.

1. You can select a target for an area where

improvement is required.

2. You may want to talk to a tutor, parent or other

trusted person about your results.

CHOOSING A TARGET

1. Click ‘My Targets’.

2. Click ‘Add Target’

You will now select a target. These are online courses that help you to develop

your skills.

You should use your assessment results to help make your choice, by selecting a

skill that you need to improve, rather than one you are already good at.

ACHIEVING YOUR TARGET

1. Open each activity in turn by clicking ‘Expand’.

2. Many activities have links to resources, videos and websites. These help you to develop your skills.

You will complete the activities in your target in class, outside of lessons and during work

placement.

To achieve your target you will need to complete the activities and upload evidence

that you have developed your skills.

3. Clicking the ‘Mark as completed’ button when you

complete each activity will add to the target wheel display.

You will receive a certificate when you reach 100%.

ADDING WORK TO YOUR TARGET

1. Click ‘Add Work’.

2. Add a description of the work or notes

you are adding.

When you have completed each task you must add text or upload any evidence into

the ‘Add Work’ button.

This might include photos, videos, worksheets, posters

or PowerPoints,.

3. Select the photos, videos or other

documents that you want to upload by clicking ‘select’.

ADDING A WORK PLACEMENT

1. Click ‘My Placements’’.

2. Click ‘Add Placement’.

You’ll need to set up a placement before starting

your work experience.

This includes adding the name of your contact/

manager and the dates of your placement.

3. You should add all of the requested information when

adding a placement.

It is important that you include an email

address for your employer and select the correct dates for

your work experience.

WHAT TO DO BEFORE YOUR PLACEMENT

1. Read each question in the checklist.

2. Move the slider to ‘Yes’ when you feel confident

about the question.

Before starting your work experience you should complete the checklists.

You will need to read each question and confirm that you understand by moving the slider to ‘Yes’.

You can speak to your tutor about anything you are unsure of.

WHAT TO DO DURING YOUR PLACEMENT

1. Type in the tasks you complete each day on work experience and the skills you have

developed.

2. Upload photos, videos and documents using the ‘Select’

button.

You will use the online journal to record what happens each day during your work experience.

This can be accessed by logging into Navigate from your phone/

tablet.

WHAT TO DO AFTER YOUR PLACEMENT

When you finish your work experience complete the ‘End of Placement self assessment’ and ‘Finishing your

placement’ checklists.

Your employer will also be asked to give feedback about your work experience. This should be viewable by the

end of your placement.

Talk to your tutor if you can’t see it.

RETAKING THE SELF ASSESSMENT

Navigate allows you to find out how far your skills have developed by taking a second

assessment.

This will give you a ‘distance travelled’ report.

Your tutor will tell you when to complete this assessment.

1. Click ‘My Assessments’

2. Click ‘Add Assessment’.

YOUR DISTANCE TRAVELLED REPORT

Your distance travelled report shows your progress over a period of time.

It is normal to have developed in some areas and declined in other areas.

You can use this report to select which skills you want to develop next.
