Explorer’s Class - The Explorer’s Class is meeting today to discuss the possible classes for next Fall & Winter. If you would like to teach something or have an idea for a class, you are welcome to meet with the class at 9:00 a.m. in the Adult Room, or contact Jane Baker at [email protected]. The class will not meet the rest of the summer. Classes will resume in September.
Contemporary Issues - The 10:30 Adult Contemporary Issues Class will explore the topic Women and Spirituality. We will discuss the Goddess tradition in early civilizations, the development of patriarchy in early Christianity, its impact on women in the Church, and what modern Christianity has to say about women’s spirituality in today’s world.
Young Adult Group will meet today from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. in Room 112 for our monthly study session. We are a group of single and married adults in their 20's and 30's that meets the second Sunday of the month to discuss biblical and spiritual questions that arise from what we experience in our careers, families and struggles of life. We meet the fourth Saturday of the month for a time of fellowship. For more information, contact Cheryl Smith at [email protected] or the

Brown Bag Lunch - Come join us for Brown Bag Lunch every Tuesday at 12:00 noon. Bring your own lunch and socialize with people from the church. We always have a good time! Come and be part of this fun group.
Singles at Dayspring -Singles, Etc. Lunches - Each Sunday after the second service, those who want to go out for lunch as a group meet at the restaurant listed below. If you attend first service, please join us! We gather around noon under the name “Dayspring”. May 8 - My Big Fat Greek Restaurant - 3305 W Chandler Blvd, just west of the 101.
UMM Meeting, May 7th - Our May meeting will include a great breakfast and program. Dr. Timothy Tsange, Chief of Urology at San Jose Medical Center and Director of Information Technology for Kaiser Permanente will be our guest, talking about “Men’s Health and Technology”. Please join us!
Justa Center Ice Cream Social and Open House Saturday, May 14, 10:00-1:00, 1001 W. Jefferson, Phoenix. Dayspring and other UM churches provide support for Justa Center, a day resource center for homeless persons over age 55. The center has moved more than 1,200 homeless seniors into independent housing since opening in 2006. All are invited to visit and enjoy goodies on May 14th.
UMW Circles meet this week: Connie Reading Circle meets at 9:30am Thursday, May 12, at the home of Mary Lou Collier, 480-756-1516. Sally Jarus will review “Locked Up: Letters and Papers of a Prisoner of Conscience”, by Rev. Don Beisswenger. Mary Martha Circle also meets Thursday, 7:00 pm, at the home of Nancy Jamison, 480-897-6601. Bev Haubrock will present the program. New members are welcome.
Bring items for the UMOM Domestic Violence Shelter next Sunday. Needed items are: alarm clocks, self-help and inspirational books, journals, calendars/planners, toys for 1-5 yr olds, play kitchen and accessories, children’s educational games, art supplies and craft kits. Please leave them on the bench near the entrance gate.
