JAMMU, JUNE 2: The Jammu andKashmir Government has evacuated about1,06,102 JK residents, stranded in otherparts of the country due to COVID lockdown,via Lakhanpur and through special trainsand buses till date amid strict observance ofall necessary guidelines and Standard Oper-ating Procedures.
As per the official data received in this re-gard, the administrations of Jammu andKashmir districts have received 40 specialtrains at Jammu and Udhampur railway sta-tions from different states and UTs, so far,
with about 31786 stranded passengers whileabout 74,316 persons have been evacuatedby the government through Lakhanpur tilldate.
Therefore, a total of about 106,102 J&Kresidents stranded outside UT have beenbrought back to the UT by the Jammu andKashmir government by 40 special trainsand a fleet of buses through Lakhanpur af-ter strictly observing all necessary preven-tive measures regarding the Virus.
As per the detailed break up about the fig-ures, about 914 stranded passengers have
entered through Lakhanpur from June 1 toJune 2 morning while 752 passengers havereached today in the 20th Delhi COVID spe-cial train at Jammu. So far, 20 trains havereached Jammu with a total of 16,146stranded passengers belonging to differentdistricts while 15,640 passengers havereached Udhampur in 20 Shramik specialtrains, so far.
As per the official communiqué, of 74,316returnees evacuated through Lakhanpur tillJune 1, 2020 (morning) included 18962from Punjab; 22015 from Himachal
Pardesh, 25 from Andhra Pardesh, 6988from Delhi, 1397 from Gujrat, 3280 from Ra-jasthan, 4296 from Haryana, 162 from Chat-tisgarh, 3612 from Uttarakhand, 1088 fromMaharashtra, 4703 from Uttar Pradesh, 64from Odisha, 267 from Assam and 1178 fromMadhya Pradesh, 88 from Dehradun, 1419from Chandigarh, 696 from Telengana, 122from Karnataka, 21 from Tamilnadu, 52from Chennai, 325 from Bihar, 166 fromWest Bengal, 113 from Jharkhand, 3 fromNepal, 3 from Goa and 3271 from otherstates and UTs.

level to its bottom 40% poorand vulnerable population.PM-JAY is the worlds largesthealth assurance schemewhich covers a population ofthe combined size of USA,Mexico and Canada.
The objective of thisscheme is to provide cashlessand free health benefits tothe entitled beneficiaries. Ac-
cording to the Socio-Eco-nomic Caste Census (SECC)6.30 lakh poor and vulnera-ble families of Jammu andKashmir are entitled to it.
He also lauded the effortsof Puneet Mahajan forpreparing Golden Cards ofthe beneficiaries free of cost.
Kaul, on the occasion, saidthat the people should opt for
every welfare scheme. He re-quested the BJP workers toassist the agency to reach outto masses. He said that thiswill ensure that the benefit ofthe schemes will reach themost deserving person andthe intended beneficiary. Healso called for active partici-pation of the BJP workers tomake the public aware aboutthe other Centrally spon-sored welfare schemes.

Managing Director,Jammu Power DistributionCorporation Limited(JPDCL), Yasha Mudgal, to-day reviewed the status ofrevenue realization,progress on centrally spon-sored scheme projects, andother issues pertaining toCorporation, here at a meet-ing.
The meeting held thread-bare discussion on the rev-enue collections, resump-tion of work on Projects andtargets set for completion oflanguishing projects.
Modalities for expeditingthe works on ongoing cen-trally sponsored schemesaimed at strengtheningtransmission and distribu-tion network were dis-cussed in detail. Strength-ening of transformer repair
workshops and rationaliza-tion of power distribution toavoid overloading wereother issues which weretaken up for discussion.
Chief Engineer, JPDCL,Gurmeet Singh, briefed themeeting about division wisetargets for revenue realiza-tion and inspections con-ducted. The meeting alsoreviewed sub division wiserevenue targets and realiza-tion for last year and cur-
rent year and resumption ofwork on the projectsstopped due to covid-19pandemic.
The Managing Directorexhorted upon the seniorfunctionaries to prepare aroad map for improvingrevenue realization and itscollection within the stipu-lated time frame. She alsostressed upon concerned of-ficers to make all efforts forthe completion of the ongo-ing projects.
The MD also asked theEngineers for taking strictaction against power pilfer-age in their respective areasof jurisdiction by snappingillegal connections.

Director, Rural Develop-ment Department Kashmir,Qazi Sarwar today visitedfar-flung areas of districtShopian including Zaina-pora, Imamsahib, Chi-tragam, Wachi and otherareas to take stock of ongo-ing developmental works.
The Director inspectedseveral constructions andother developmental workson drains, culverts, nallahs,roads and khuls etc. beingexecuted under MGN-REGA.
He under-took the tour ofrural areas outside contain-
ment zones to take firsthand appraisal of the eco-nomic hardships beingfaced by the public due tolockdown period.
Sarwar said that the de-partment’s endeavor is togive importance to ruraleconomy and facilitate em-ployment of labor in ruralareas, “developmental ac-tivities in the district hasbeen resumed under flag-ship employment guaranteescheme MGNREGA to pro-vide much needed man-days to rural populace amidcovid-19 pandemic to miti-gate their financial crisis,”he added.

the guidelines issued by thegovernment for protectionagainst covid-19 pandemicbesides the department isalso actively involved in dis-tribution of masks amongthe rural masses and strictlyfollow the advisories andmaintaining social distanceto prevent transmission ofvirus.
He said a bridge at Wachiis coming up with an esti-mated cost of Rs 40 lac andwill be completed within thestipulated time frame incurrent financial year.

grievances.He said that Rural Devel-
opment Department isplaying a vital role in thecontainment of Coron-avirus in rural areasthrough mass awarenessamong the people and thedepartment is working inclose coordination with dis-trict administration in themanagement and contain-ment of Covid-19 in ruralareas.
Director said that among98 panchayat halqas of thedistrict, the work on 94 pan-chayat halqas is in progresswhile work on rest of thepanchayat halqas declaredas red zones will be startedafter they are declared asgreen zones.
Later, during a meetingwith District DevelopmentCommissioner Shopian anddistrict officers, threadbarediscussion were held on de-velopmental and otherworks in the district.

Rana cautions against reopening of schools
JAMMU JUNE 02: National Conference ProvincialPresident Devender Singh Rana today exhorted Jammuand Kashmir administration to exercise caution while arriv-ing at a decision to reopen schools in the middle of currentmonth amid unfortunate increase in the COVID-19 cases,saying any wrong move could be detrimental for students attheir tender ages. “Mere thought of reopening schoolsseems to be premature as most of the schools lack neces-sary infrastructural facilities to enforce mandatory preven-tive protocols, more importantly ensuring distance”, MrRana said in a statement while reacting to the move of the ad-ministration in this regard, adding that non-adherence ofdo’s and don’ts could negate the efforts of containing thespread of pandemic.
