Student Spotlight
“Majoring in FS has been my best decision in college. I have met amazing
friends, gained great knowledge and experience, and worked with some of the best
professors Central has to offer. Thanks to the opportunities provided by the Family
Studies department, I have expanded my professional network, and am so excited to
work in the field. If you love fun, families, and relationships, FS is the major for you!
-- Brittany Stamnes, Senior FS student
This past April over 20 students travelled to Portland,
Oregon to attend the Northwest Council on Family
Relations. Many individuals had the chance to present their research and
network with professionals and other students from the northwest region.
Here’s one student’s experience…
“This year’s NWCFR conference was amazing.... The talk that Tony Biglan
gave called “Nurturing all the Families in our Communities” was really
helpful for me because I was able to apply it to my work in helping develop
the Mother 2 Mother program for the FRC. Additionally, being able to present
research that I helped conduct was a
worthwhile experience that I enjoyed
very much, and as an added bonus
our research poster won the poster
competition, which was extremely
exciting!”
