HPCSA NATIONAL CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS
Sunday 18 August 2019Delegates attending the HPCSA NationalConference can register at the main reception ofthe Emperors Palace Conference Centre from13:00. The Conference kicks off with an openingceremony at 17:00 in the Senate Rooms lead bythe Minister of Health Dr Mkhize.
Monday 19 August 2019Keynote speaker for the day, Director General ofHealth, Ms Matsoso, will address the Conferenceon The role of the regulator in universal healthcoverage. The session is followed by a paneldiscussion on the impact of the current ethicalrules to ensure a sustainable health care system.
The afternoon features a series of breakaway sessions exploring perspectiveson the workforce environment, the required skills and capabilities, the role ofeducation and training systems in preparing the health practitioners oftomorrow.
The day will conclude with a plenary session onan Integrated model for CPD and Maintenance ofLicence presented by Prof Singh followed by theHPCSA Health Awards 2019, recognisingexcellence and celebrating the future ofHealthcare Regulation, officiated by the DeputyMinister of Health Dr Phaahla.
Tuesday 20 August 2019Dr Khama Rogo, World Bank Lead Health SectorSpecialist and Head of Health in AfricaInitiative from the World Bank Group, will presentthe keynote address on Good health and well-being – why it matters? What is our role inachieving this goal?
The following panel discussion focuses on ethical practice, legislativemandates, guidelines and advocacy. The days' breakaway sessions will look atthe health regulators vision for the future, trends and new regulatory modelsand its impact on ethics, digital innovation and the wave of the 4th industrialrevolution. The afternoon will feature the launch of the HPCSA Ethicalbooklets followed by a talk by HPCSA Registrar/CEO Dr Billa and closingremarks by HPCSA President Dr Letlape.
