TESTIMONIAL from Jacob Ross – Little Sports Coaching Co-ordinator

I joined Little Sports Coaching in August 2013 as a member of the coaching team, working a few hours in the week and at weekends at the Mini Soccer Centres. After studying at college, I had a real interest in sports development and saw that there could be some opportunities

at Little Sports Coaching. I was offered an apprenticeship which provided me with an excellent foundation for my coaching. I was able to work alongside really experienced coaches, in different sports, and found that the support and mentoring I was offered by senior members of staff, developed me as a coach and as a person. I really enjoyed my work and the challenges I was being presented with.

At the end of my apprenticeship I was delighted to be offered a full-time coaching contract with Little Sports Coaching where I was given the responsibility of being the LSC Co-ordinator with my own small team. I’ve continued to be given further responsibility by the company and I would highly recommend working for Little Sports Coaching to anybody who is interested in an exciting career in sports coaching.

The staff at FC Sports C.A.F.A. have a wealth of knowledge, experience and skills to pass onto the students who attend our BTEC Courses. Our tutors are very well qualified coaches with backgrounds in the education sector. We have a variety of coaches, including UEFA ‘A’ License and ‘B’ License coaches, who have worked in a number of different settings including within the professional game and the local community. Each student will be allocated their own tutor mentor who will provide one-to-one support throughout the academic year. In addition, students will be working alongside, on a daily basis, coaches from our Employment Partner, Little Sports Coaching, in schools and after-school clubs. Our staff aim to ensure that each student not only excels academically but are also able to develop and flourish as an individual, developing their own social and communication skills to enable them to progress in life after they have left the course. On completion of the course, the contact with the C.A.F.A. staff doesn’t finish; our dedicated team will support students in their next step, whether that be in further education or in finding employment.

“TESTIMONIAL from Bradley Robinson – Former Little Sports Coaching Apprentice

I had a really keen interest in sport, in particular Rugby, and saw Little Sports Coaching advertising for the role of an apprentice. I attended a recruitment day and was really happy when I was offered the role of an apprentice. The thing that attracted me most to the Apprenticeship

was the opportunity to get hands on experience of coaching young people in a variety of settings – schools, after-school and at weekends, as well as at the junior football club. In addition, the in-house training modules which were offered ensured that I continued to move forward as a coach and was challenged continually to improve and develop. I learnt so much from my time as an apprentice and was delighted when they offered me a coaching role, where I’ve now progressed to act as a head coach.”

“TESTIMONIAL from Aaron Brookes – Little Sports Coaching Apprentice

I was first made aware of Little Sports Coaching when Craig and the senior management team came into my college, Stockport College, for a Little Sports recruitment day. During the day we were given the opportunity to deliver a coaching session, receive feedback, attend

a mini interview and ask existing staff, at Little Sports, any questions we wanted. It was a really useful experience and I was thrilled when I received the phone call from Craig to be offered the role as an Apprentice. The role itself has provided me with a real grounding in sports coaching. On a daily basis I have the opportunity to learn from good coaches, as well as being given the chance to deliver my own sessions and grow as a coach. I was presented with the ‘Apprentice of the Year Award’ at the staff presentation in December and I was absolutely chuffed and proud to receive recognition from my colleagues for the work I’d been doing.”
