Staff Moves

for 2020/2021

At this time of year schools receive their staffing allocations for the coming school year. School staff also have the option of applying to other schools within the district if they choose. Currently, we do have some staffing changes at Don Bosco. Mrs. Maguire, kindergarten teacher and Mrs. Clarke, office assistant will be retiring at the end of the school year. We wish them the best in their retirement. Mrs. McBrien, our Grade One teacher will be moving to Kindergarten and will be staying at Don Bosco. Mr. Carrier and Mr. Lentz will be moving to other teaching positions in our school district. We wish them all the best as they continue in their teaching careers. We have one new teacher coming to Don Bosco from St. Thomas More School. We welcome Ms. Fournier who will be joining us in September. Staffing continues through the month of June.

CALGARY CATHOLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT MONTHLY NEWSJUNE 2020

Board of Trustees year-end messageThe Board of Trustees has been privileged to work on behalf of Calgary Catholic during the 2019-2020 school year. We appreciate the combined efforts of our school communities – our students, families, staff, and parishes, who together have made CCSD the provincial leader that it is. This year brought many successes, but also many challenges. Click here to read the full message.

Chief Superintendent’s year-end messageThe 2019-2020 school year has been unlike any other. March 1, 2020 was the beginning of my journey as chief superintendent. On March 15, all classes in Alberta were suspended until further notice due to the COVID-19 pandemic. From that point on, we navigated unchartered territory together. There are many people I would like to recognize and thank who were instrumental in supporting us through this challenging school year. Click here to read the full message.

Infrastructure updatesWhile we are not physically in our schools, work continues on planning and building new infrastructure. We were recently informed by the provincial government that we have been approved for planning funds for a much-needed modernization and addition project to St. Martin de Porres high school in Airdrie. Construction will also begin shortly on a new Catholic K-9 school in Cochrane. Finally, St. Gianna (K-6 school in Auburn Bay) is expected to open in the fall.

We want to hear from youWe are focused on asking for feedback from our parents and community to help us inform our decisions moving forward. We continue to use ThoughtExchange, an online platform that allows us to ask questions and see your responses in real time. For our latest question, we would like your feedback on our district website. We are in the early stages of re-designing our website (www.cssd.ab.ca) and we want to hear what you like/dislike about it. We also want to know what is working well and what we can do to improve your user experience. This exchange will be open until June 5. Click here to participate.

Live streamed board meetingsIf you are interested in learning more about Calgary Catholic, we invite all of our parents and families to tune into our live-streamed board meetings. Our trustees and senior administration continue to meet virtually to discuss important issues for Calgary Catholic.

Planning for the fall We are working with the provincial government to determine what returning to school will look like. Three scenarios for school resumption in the fall are currently being considered: schools may reopen under mostly normal conditions; they may reopen with health restrictions or students will continue learning from home. We will update parents/guardians with notes sent home as we know more.

Last day of classesLast day of classes is Friday, June 26. We wish all our students and staff a fun-filled and safe summer break.
