& 14.01.2013 in the play grounds, auditoriums and the premises of SourashtraHigher Secondary School, Kamarajar Salai, Madurai-9 with the participation of largenumber of Sourashtra families with their children and relatives. The entire HighSchool premises had a festive look with colourful decorations, flex banners with big

hoardings depicting the huge images of leaders and VIPs in the community. Thistwo days festival was organized by Sourashtra Samuuga NalappEravai in associationwith other sourashtra organizations.

At 10.30 am on Sunday, 13.01.2013, the Omkar Flag was hoisted bySri C.K. Narasimmachari. After lighting the lamps, prayer songs were sung bySmt. S.P. Gita Bharathi and Smt. Kanchana Surendranath. Sri K.G. Narayanan,President, samuuga nalappEravai, presided over the function. After his presidential

Subramanian, Erode Sourashtra Sabhawere seen decorating the stage in the beginning of the function.

After formal inaugural of the festival Sri K.N.K. Ganesh, in his brief speech stressedthe needs of these type of festivals which will bring a concrete unity among thesourashtra people. He also extended his greetings for the successful conduct of thefestival programs.

Sri E. Santharam, President, AISMS, said that the Madhya Sabha is mainlyconcentrating to include the Sourashtra language in the 8th Schedule of the GovernmentUnless we unite together, raise our voice, it will be very difficult to draw the attentionof State & Central Governments, he said. M/s A.G.S. Rambabu, K.B. Radhakrishnan,Woriyur A. Regarajan, Erode M.G. Subramanian, in their speech, greeted the audienceand stressed the need for speedy performance in public life.

In the High School campus, more than 60 stalls were opened exhibiting theproducts and services of sourashtra entrepreneurs and those stalls were seen busy withthe sourashtra customers. A few refreshments stalls (like tea, coffee etc.) were alsoseen busy in and around the foot ball stadium.

The rare images of sourashtra elders, leaders, authors, poets and their life sketcheswere seen exhibited in a stall. In another side, big size images depicting scenes fromRamayana and Mahabharatha were exhibited. It is understood that these arrangementswere jointly made by Sri CKNji and Sri T.R. Bhaskar.

In the stall opened by Sourashtra Munnettra Kazhagam, Sri Kesava Raja and hiscollegues were seen registering busy the names of members who join the SMK. Inanother side, Sri N.S.R. Santharam, Mg. Trustee of LKT Edu-Job Consultants, was verybusy along with his sons in decorating their stall and welcoming their customers.

After 12.00 noon, cultural programmes were started. kOlaaTTam, dramas, question& answer programmes (pusini – sangini), the silent drama and dance programmesconducted by the students of Nilayur Kuppian School were very much attractive to theaudience. A few competions were also held and prizes were distributed to the winners.

In the Evening by 5.00 pm, a felicitation function was held. Sri C.K. Sekar, presidedover the function. The founders and forerunners of the Global Sourashtra Meet 2012held in August 2012 were honoured in appreciation of their great efforts to conduct such

By 8.00 pm, the Sourashtra Jim Group exhibited their talents and with the vote ofthanks by Sri K.R. Yogeswaran, the days’ activites came to a close.

From 10.30 am onwards on Monday, 14.01.2013, Bharath Naatyam, EnvironmentDrama, Music Programmes, paTTimanram in Sourashtra language were held one afterthe other. Sri D.K. Subramanian was the Judge for the paTTimanram.

With the vote of thanks by our Community P.R.O. Sri Murali, the two days’ festivitycame to an end. months, through your website. The January 2013 edition was quiteinformative and the information on 20th Annual Day Celebration ofKUSO was very impressive and enjoyable.

Further, I appeal KUSO to work towards getting greater recognitionto one of our Sourashtra Great Sri T.M. Soundarajan. As I have posted onmy facebook I also paste the same request to KUSO.

"Recently, the Padma awards were announced and South Indian GreatS.Janaki refused the award saying that South Indians are discriminatedin selection of giving such awards. I feel that one of our own Great T.M.Soundararajan needs greater recognition for his service to Music. TMSreceived Padma Sri in 2003. He should have at least got Padma Bhushan

or Padma Vibhushan by now. So, I appeal to all the Sourashrian of the world to join andwork in the direction of getting the highest awards for TMS."

AISMS Emaneswaram Festival !The entire area where the

Sourashtra pEravai arangam situatedin Emaneswaram had a festive look onSunday, 20.01.2013 ! In the streetsleading to the pEravai arangam, wefound a large number of flex boardsdepicting the huge size images ofDr. Raya R. Govindarajan,Sri E. Santharam, Sri P.G.M. Thulasiram, Sri A.K.R. Subramanian, Sri N.K. Parthasarathyand Sri M.S. Kannan and other VIPs.

After its revival, the 4th Executive Committee Meeting of All India Sourashtra MadhyaSabha, Dindigul, was started by 10.30 am. All the Office Bearers and some of theParamakudi-Emaneswaram leaders were available on the dais. Happiness was glitteringon all the faces of the above including Dr Raya R. Govindarajan !

Sri E. Santharam, President, All India Sourashtra Madhya Sabha, presided over themeeting. In his presidential address, Sri Santharam listed out the steps proposed to betaken with the authorities concerned on the matters that were covered (10 items) in theMeeting Notice sent to all EC Members.

Sri A.K.R. Subramanian, General Secretary, narrated the activities of Madhya Sabhaon the proposed Resolutions listed out in the Notice and assured the gathering to report inthe 5th Executive Meeting proposed to be held at Ayyampettai on 5th March 2013.

Samuuga thalaivar Dr. Raya R. Govindarajan, in his speech, assured his maximumsupport on the activities of Sourashtra Madhya Sabha amidst applause from the EC Membersand others who assembled in the pEravai arangam.

As there was no time to discussitem-wise on Resolutions proposedto be passed in the meeting beforelunch, it is left to the audience tobe satisfied with the explanationsoffered by Sri E. Santharam andSri A.K.R. Subramanian in theirspeech.

Kannan, President, SourashtraSabha,Emaneswaram with the support and cooperation of office bearers and committeemembers of both the Sabhas to the fullest satisfaction of the visitors.

L.K.T's 143rd Birthday CelebratedThe 143rd Birth Day of Sri L.K. Thulasiram was

celebrated on Monday, 14.01.2013 in the Main Hall ofSourashtra Higher Secondary School for Boys, KamarajarSalai, Madurai. The Event was organized by Avraam AmiTrust in the presence of Sri A.R. Jagannath, B.Com., Hon.Secretary & Correspondent, Sourashtra High School Council.Sri M.N. Sankaran, President, Sourashtra High School,presided over the function. Both Sri M.N. Sankaran andSri A.R. Jagannath extolled the services and achievementsof Sri L.K. Thulasiram in construction of Stone Building forHigh School and introducing the ever unique Midday MealScheme for the students.

Sri V.R. Ganesh Chandar, Admn. Director of ADITI (functions exclusively forrehabilitation of the physically handicapped) urged the gathering to follow the unbiasedapproach of L.K.T. in alleviating the sufferings of the poor and downtrodden.

Sri T.S.R. Maheswaran, B.E., (Jt. General Manager, Madurai Airport) touched LKT’sachievements philosophically and aptly desired that LKT should be called as LokaBandhu instead of Rashtra Bandhu.

A mention was made to erect a Memorial in memory of LKT with the cooperationof all for his yeoman services to the society.

On the occasion, Sri N. Krishnan, Founder, Akshaya Trust, Madurai (which exclusivelyfeeds the disabled, mentally retorted, poor dwellers on platforms and builds a shelterfor the given-up people) was awarded the LKT Shield while five poor students weregiven financial assistance.

Among others Sri R.N. Sadasivan, Editor, Voice of KUSO, LKT’s heirsSri L.V. Sugadev, Sri L.V. Ramarathinam, Sri L.M. Thulsiram, Sri N.S.R. Santharam,Sri N. Sekaran (Retd. D.I.G. of Regiration, Paramakudi) had graced the occasion bytheir august presence.

While K. Devaraj, Trustee of Avraam Ami Trust, welcomed the guests and thegathering, Sri K.R. Dakshninamoorthy, another trustee, proposed a vote of thanks.
