Welcome to Futureversity’s Fundraising Auction

With almost 40 years in the business, we can depend on auctioneer Fabian Hine, from MC & Hammer, to ensure proceedings go smoothly.

Items he has auctioned over the years include houses, aeroplanes, helicopters, antiques, boats and over a million cars, including Chitty Chitty Bang Bang — twice!

Canvas commission by A Dee.

Artist and Futureversity Patron, A Dee, otherwise known as The Artful Dodger, has offered to create a piece especially for the highest bidder of this lot. This is a truly unique offer from a very talented artist, one not to be missed out on! A Dee is widely credited with being one of the first aerosol artist to come out of the UK in the early 1980s. He has made the successful transition from the streets to the corporate world with work for companies including LucasFilm, BAA Heathrow Airport, MTV and The South Bank Show, as well as backdrops, album sleeves and logos for music acts and record labels.

Four tickets to be in the studio audience of BBC’s QI and meet the team

You and your guests will watch a recording of the popular show, QI, as part of the studio audience and will then be invited backstage to enjoy a few drinks with the production crew and meet the show’s stars, Stephen Fry, Alan Davies and the guest panellists. The recording dates are either 18 or 25 May or 1 June 2011.

Promotional film made by Pukka Films

Top film and video production company, Pukka Films, are offering bidders the chance to have a quality promotional film made for their company. The film will be 3-5 minutes long and shot in HD and delivered on DVD or the company website. It will need to be filmed and delivered by 11 November 2011. Terms and conditions apply.

Pukka Films produce films for a range of clients including BP, Threadneedle, RBS,BT, the Army, NHS Direct, Nintendo, Jo Malone and J.P. Morgan. They recently won 5 awards including best education film and best drama at the IVCA awards for their film on the dangers of sexting made for the Child Online and Exploitation Protection Agency (CEOP) www.pukkafilms.com

Fishing trip on the Scottish Lochs with Commonwealth award-winning fisherman

For this unique prize (for two) you will experience a day’s fly-fishing for wild brown trout with ex-Commonwealth fly-fishing champion, Ron Harriman, on two spectacular Highland lochs. Board the sleeper train at Euston and wake up in Pitlochry - a picturesque Highland village located in the River Tunnel valley surrounded by forests and mountains. Included is transport, two days full board with your hosts in their traditional stone cottage with home cooked meals and an evening dram. Casting instruction and fly tying lessons are provided if required. Villiers Brothers Oslo Console Table

Top furniture designers, Villiers Brothers, have donated a stunning Oslo Console Table which is typical of the company’s striking designs and impeccable craftsmanship from over 22 years experience. The company was started by three brothers, Harry, Tim and Hugo with determination to create beautiful and strikingly different pieces of furniture to the highest quality. All their furniture is made in England and their craft mens take great pride in the creation of each item they make.

The dimensions are: height 860mm x width 1500mm x depth 400mm.

‘Landscape with Sunset’ by Jatinder Kalsi

A striking piece of photography created by Futureversity student Jatinder Kalsi as part of our www! media grants scheme. This canvas was created as part of a project entitled ‘The Warning’ which explores the effects of global warming.

‘The Falling Cranes’ by William Ly 2009

A black and white photograph by Futureversity student William Ly as part of our www! media grants scheme. The framed piece comes from a project entitled Waiting For Vietnam, 2008-2009, which provides a glimpse into Vietnamese family life in London and expresses the fragility of the culture through paper cranes.

Photographs on canvas created by Futureversity students Charley Packham and Ming Au as part of our www! Media grants scheme. These pieces are part of a series entitled ‘Manos’, exploring the under appreciated beauty of our hands and endless ways we use them, from daily mundane tasks to self expression.

Lot 8:

Private Belly dance Lesson

A beginners’ Belly dance lesson for up to five people. Professional Belly dance artist Nicola Harvey will teach you how to move and groove Egyptian-style in this fun and energetic session. Hip belts will be provided and the session, which can either be held at Futureversity’s office or your offices, will last for two and a half hours. Minimum age 14.

Dizzee Rascal signed gold discFutureversity Patron and alumnus, Dizzee Rascal, has donated a signed golddisc. The world famous rapper, who grew up in east London, participated in a Futureversity Music Technology summer course in his early teens. At just 19 he became the youngest ever recipient of the prestigious Mercury Prize and has, so far, made three critically acclaimed albums and had five No 1 singles.

Lot 10:

Elegant and unique fascinator designed by milliner Dorit Young

A dramatic piece with a modern twist made out of black silk satin, two feather sprays and a crystal buckle. This piece has been made especially for this event by designer Dorit Young who trained in couture millinery in Berlin before working with designers including David Shilling and Philip Treacy. Dorit now divides her time between freelance teaching at the V&A, property management and millinery.

Your chance to see critically acclaimed Stewart Lee speaking about his book How I Escaped My Certain Fate in conversation with Michael Rosen. It is everything we have come to expect from Stewart Lee: fiercely intelligent, unsparingly honest and very funny. The performance takes place at 6pm on Sunday 19 June. Over 18’s only.

Find out how the Environment Agency works hard to keep our feet dry in the capital and enjoy amazing views of the city. You’ll hear about the barrier’s history and get an exclusive tour of the machinery and gadgetry that allows the massive structure to raise up and defy the tide. Participants must be over 14 years old and be of sound health — there are lots of stairs!
