Editor’s Note:

I am immensely pleased to present this month’s e-Newsletter. This Newsletter will highlight the activities carried out by the Municipality from time to time. It will give a detail about the ongoing projects of the municipality. It is well recognized that urban green space plays an important role in the social and natural sustainability of a city. An increase of vegetated surfaces in the urban landscape, provide ecological diversity etc. Proposals sent for developing park in the open spaces near kesava nagar and ram nagar under Mission Component Green Cover improvement in the AMRUT Scheme for the year 2017-20 to APUGBCL. Further architects from the APUGBCL have made a site visit for designing of proposed site. Commissioner

Development of central Medians

The 71st Independence Day was celebrated at the Municipal Office of Dharmavaram with great fervour. Shri G.Ravi, Municipal Commissioner hoisted the national flag followed by national anthem. He also read out the Hon’ble President’s message on the eve of I-Day 2017. This was followed by a beautiful cultural programme. The event saw a large number of participation with students, teachers and community leaders. Awards in Various sectors were presented to municipal employees for their effort in Municipal services. Chairperson Sri Beere Gopal Krishna addressed the gathering and presented the awards along with the commissioner.

The Dharmavaram municipality is taking stringent action to regularize the illegal water tap connections. The commissioner formulated special teams and ordered them to cut the connections of such kind, on 31-08-2017 the teams along with revenue inspectors conducted special drive in all wards and disconnected the illegal tap connections. the Revenue inspectors cited that there was nearly RS 6 crore pending in the town and urged the people to use online services to pay the pending balances.

Revenue enhancement through Advertisement Tax reform is one of the five reforms undertaken under CBUD funded programme. In this regard, the selected consultant PSP visited ULB for data collection and had meetings with concerned departments. Also visited various sites including all municipal buildings, parks, schools and some major parks within the city.

As per the state government has taken a decision to convert anganwadi schools to play schools around the state. By following the instructions, In Dharmavaram municipality two anganwadi’s ie keshavanagar and YSR colony converted to play schools. The municipality distributed text books, toys and play equipment to the respective anganwadi’s. all other required necessities were donated by NGO’s.

AMRUT Reforms on revenue Enhancement

As a part of the state government’s programme to end mosquito menace the municipal commissioner along with Deputy DMHO started awareness campaign in the town on 27-08-2017. He participated in a rally to bring awareness among public about cleanliness in and around the surroundings, on the occasion the commissioner suggested citizens to take necessary measures to overcome mosquito borne diseases.

Assessment of Non-Revenue Water and developing strategy and implementation action plan for reduction of Non-Revenue water in the ULB was given to WAPCOS Guntur. A team visited the ULB and collected required data. Some of the ELSR’s were visited and collected data like inlet-outlet diameters, LWL’s, MWL’S, Capacity, pumping details along with the distribution network.

Awareness campaign on Mosquito menace – War on Mosquitoes

Proposals sent for developing park in the open spaces near sanjay nagar and Ram nagar Colony in Dharmavaram under Mission Component Green Cover improvement in the AMRUT Scheme for the year 2017-20 to APUGBCL. Further architects from the APUGBCL have made a site visit for designing of proposed site. The above development activities have undergone for the month of July, 2017 in Dharmavaram Municipality of Anantapur District.
