As a design team at Four Films, we are an embedded brain force in the midst of a press operation that has thousands of intricacies to be addressed prior to handing out a finished product of an utmost quality.

Design Review 2008 is a compilation of select designs we worked on during the past year. This is a first retrospective we launch as a design team to achieve the following: to train ourselves to document and classify/categorize our work, to enable ourselves to look back critically at productions we were part of, and to ensure that the whole process is geared towards improving our upcoming 2009 Design Review.

This effort will be catalogued for our clients and peers to start a dialogue towards creatively resolving upcoming design challenges and exposing interests in our design approaches.

  • UNMC, a multi-media company, utilizes television, radio, newspapers, and magazines among other outlets.

Emanating from the initials, the letters roll from a u to an n, echo the ns into an m, overlap and tilt forward, suggesting a progressive movement with a gripping C at the end; looking ahead with a riveting message.

The Arabic font is strictly derived from the English one, to give originality for the Arabic font, yet familiarity when beside the English. All sections of the company underline the stationery in the forms of icons inscribed in nodes and sequenced to expose the different media outlets at the customers disposal.

  • SGI Group is a glass company that is heavily invested in the industry of glass making.

The amorphous prefix to the typography suggests the glass blowing technique with reflective tactility when it comes to the nuanced blue palette. A green stroke tailing out from the text, implies the environmentally friendly processes employed by SGI.

    1 Logos

  • 4U is a media group that is proud of working round-the-clock for you. A pixellated twilight accentuates the temporal and geographical differences that are within the coverage or reach of 4U.

The contrasting color palette, of orange and black, is carried all through the design of the stationery and the company profile. The gradation in the colors of the logo in the business card was zoomed-in to become pixellations, gradually eradicating the other-wise framed layout of the company profile.

Icons and illustrations are carried out from the logo into the company profile maintaining a common framework.

A moebius strip suggests an endless echo of a Q. Futuristic in style, gold in finish, and stamped and varnished in print, the emblem reflects a glitzy stature for the client.

The stationery is muted as background to absent any dissonance to the object of the logo.

  • An anomaly of a logo, yet it compels the reader: the X crosses out the faint classical architecture in the background suggesting a layered reading of negating yet basing itself on it. The trim, an ornament in architecture, becomes part of extreme, a measure of excess in architecture.

The X stands out as a message of contradictions, an unhealthy start for an architectural practice, yet recognizable.

    1 Logos

  • The client approached us with an existing logo and an intent to retrofit it, maintaining some of its initial features. Keeping the same basic colors of the older logo, we changed it into a set of symmetrically composed slim ellipses, reminiscent of flowers and insects along the banks of a river; a geometry that is derived from nature and fit for a spa. The design of the stationery is very natural and calm to fit the companys purpose.

  • Multiple ways of communicating business had us focusing on representing communications in different design forms. Using people silhouettes in motion with solid lively colors or inscribing text is suggestive of the books theme regarding human and technological modes of interface and communication. Sinuous wavy lines resemble sound waves transforming the invisible modes of communications to complement the physical ones with the dynamic human postures.

A modern style of design that Interconnects vector lines with the typographic curves to transmit a vibe and diversity central to the ways the company approaches its work.

    UMS REal estate

UMS Real Estate Company is a Kuwa

    iti Shareholding Company Closed (K.S

    .C.C) established on

10 March 2008, with a paid up capi

tal of KD 30 million (USD 112 milli

    on). The Company is

    a specialized real estate companyprim

arily focusing on providing and mai

    ntaining world class

    healthcare facilities to the healthcare

operators in Kuwait and the MENA

    region.

The main driver for such service is t

he current demand for high quality h

    ealthcare services in

the private sector driven by the incr

easing affluence, and the shortage of

    adequate and quality

infrastructure. Such a scenario is felt

ideal for ownership and property man

    agement of healthcare

real estate by separate specialised Re

    al Estate Company.

The role of the company in healthcar

e domain is to act as a catalyst in p

    rovision of world class

    facilities to the healthcare operators

in the region. Hence, the healthcare

    operators can focus

on their area of specialisation, while

the real estate Company takes care

    of their facility related

    aspects on day-to-day basis.

The business areas of the Company

    essentially include specialized real es

    tate services specific

to the healthcare sector i.e. - Asset

    Ownership and Operating Lease, Prop

    erty Management and

Consulting Services. It is believed th

at there exists a substantial unsatisf

    ied demand for such

service offering in Kuwait and the re

st of GCC and MENA region.

The companys business model aims to build a healthcare holding company with a diversified spectrum of healthcare re-lated subsidaries and investments spe-cializing in medical investments, real estate, and financing activities in order to capture the substantial unsatisfied demand for quality services across the entire GCC and

    MENA region.

    Our Mission

    Reflecting PEace of mind

  • Aqarok.com is an online real estate business; the profile was made to introduce this service to the public. We designed the brochure to make it in a way look like digital pages, a shiny red color used for the background with data streaming style on it. Using large format pictures in the background and contrasting between titles and text created an attractive visual effect for the viewers.

Growing Aggressively In a Friendly Environment: A clear message from an oil company that wants to convey that business development in the oil field is not necessarily mutually exclusive from being environmentally friendly.
