The vertical sides of the prefabricated framing shall be attached to the HSS with 3/4 in. dia. bolts as per manufacturer's instructions. The stud to HSS connections are to be located near the top and the bottom of the studs. Only the HSS are loadbearing and the HSS shall be designed in accordance with the LRFD or the ASD design method specified in ANSI/AISC 36010 Specification for Structural Steel Buildings. Truss chord and web members to be designed in accordance with the American Iron and Steel Institute'sSpecification for the Design of ColdFormed Steel Structural Members, 1996 Edition. Trusses spaced a max of 24 or 48in. OC, refer to Item 8. 5A. Structural Steel Members* — As an alternate to Item 5 Prefabricated steel truss system consisting of coldformed, galvanized steel chord and web sections. Trusses spaced a max of 24 or 48 in. Where thetruss intersects with the interior face of the exterior walls, the min truss depth shall be 117/8 in. or 5 in. with a minroof slope of 3/12 and a min area in the plane of the truss of 20 sq/ft. OC, 3/4 and 3 in. from butted side andend joints, respectively. End joints attached to double channels and protected above with 3 in. wide strips of 5/8 in.thick wallboard. Wallboard joints may be either exposed or covered with joint compound and paper tape. As analternate, nom 3/32 in. thick gypsum veneer plaster may be applied to the entire surface of Classified veneerbaseboard.

When Steel Framing Members (Item 10A, 10B) are used, wallboard butt joints shall be staggered min. 2 ft. within theassembly, and occur between the main furring channels. Edge joints located 1 ft from center lines of joists. At thewallboard butt joints, each end of the gypsum board shall be supported by a single length of furring channel equal tothe width of the wallboard plus 6 in. on each end. The furring channels shall be spaced approximately 31/2 in. OC, andbe attached to underside of the joist with one clip at each end of the channel. Gypsum board attached to the furringchannels using 1 in. long Type S buglehead steel screws spaced 8 in. OC along butted end joints and 12 in. OC in thefield of the board. Wallboard joints covered with fiber tape and joint compound. Butt joints protected above with 3 in.wide strips of 5/8 in. thick gypsum board.

When Steel Framing Members (Item 10C) are used, one layer of nom 5/8 in. thick, 4 ft wide gypsum board isinstalled with long dimensions perpendicular to furring channels. Gypsum board secured to furring channels with nom 1in. long Type S buglehead steel screws spaced 8 in. OC in the field of the board. Gypsum board butted end joints shallbe staggered minimum 72 in. At the gypsum board butt joints, each end of each gypsum board shall be supported by asingle length of furring channel equal to the width of the gypsum board plus 3 in. on each end, spaced approximately 2in. in from joint. Screw spacing along the gypsum board butt joint shall be 8 in. OC.
