Williamse.1 He married second before 1652 Jannetje Jans (assuming Jannetje is the mother of Elizabeth and

Geertruyd).2 He died between 29 Mar 1688 and 24 May 1692; (dates of will and proving).

Immigrant ancestor to America in 1651.3 He was admitted to the Brooklyn, Kings Co., Long Island, New York, on 25

Dec 1662 with an attestation from Fort Orange (now Albany, New York).4 On 27 Feb 1664 Paulus Dircksen was among those nominated from Wallabout, for election to the positions of Elder and Deacon for the Brooklyn Reformed Dutch

Church.5 On 9 Apr 1664 Paulus Dircksen and Geertie Gijsberts witnessed the confirmation of Janneken Jans, from

a list of persons including son Peter Huff.27 EECHTJE TEUNISE COVERT was born say 1652 (assumes age 20 at marriage). She probably died between 1681

Brooklyn, Kings Co., Long Island, New York. He married Elizabeth (___). He died between 30 Oct 1742 and 20 Nov 1746.

HUFF.36 He was named in his father's will dated on 19 Nov 1722.37 His will was dated on 22 Oct 1747 proved 29 Mar 1748. Derrick Huff of Kingston, late of the City of New Brunswick, Middlesex County, blacksmith. Estate to his wife for the maintenance of two children (daughters, but not named). Executors: wife Ann and friend Jedediah Higgins. Wit.: Ja. Leonard, Thomas Atchley and Jno. Dally. Ann Huff, the widow, renounced as executrix in favor of Jedediah Higgins

He was named in his father's will dated on 19 Nov 1722.53 3. ELISABETH2 POULUSSEN (Paulus1 Dirckszen) was born say 1653 (assumes age 20 at marriage). She married

first say 1673 Paulus Michielszen Van der Voort, son of Michiel Pauluszen and Marritje Jorise Rapalje.54 She

He died between 16 Nov 1749 and 27 Feb 1750. He was also known by the patronymic Paulus Dirckszen. He appeared on the census in 1698 Flushing, Queens Co.,

Long Island, New York, Dutch Inhabitants. Powell Hoff & Rachel his wife, no children.64 He was named in his father's will

dated on 19 Nov 1722.65 "meadow between Samuel Hunt's widow and Powell Huff's," is mentioned in the will of Capt.

Ralph Hunt of Maidenhead, Hunterdon County, 5 Nov 1732.66 In 1749 Powell Hoff resided Hopewell, Hunterdon Co.,

New Jersey.67 His will was dated on 16 Nov 1749 proved 28 Feb 1750. Powell Hoff of Hopewell, Hunterdon Co., yeoman. Names children Hannah, Richard, Rachel and Isaac. Executor: son Richard. Wit.: Thomas Sutton, Richard Phillips and

97 vii. Isaac Hoff was born on 2 Apr 1758 Hunterdon Co., New Jersey.245 He was a Revolutionary War soldier. As a resident of Hunterdon Co., New Jersey, Isaac Hoff enlisted after the British entered Boston and served for one month as a private in Capt. Cilnoff's (Kirkoff's?) Co., Col. Mahalm's Regt. during which time he was engaged in building a fort at Staten Island. He enlisted a short time before the British entered New York City and served as different times as a private in the New Jersey troops amounting to at least sixteen months of service. He was at the Battle of Millstone Creek where he was wounded by a ball in the fron of

his head. He was at the Battle of Monmouth, and in frequent other skirmishes.246 In 1790 Isaac Hoff resided Reading Twp., Hunterdon Co., New Jersey; until he moved to Kentucky, and then to

Butler Co., Ohio in 1803.247,248 He was named in his father's will dated on 7 May 1790.249 On 4 Aug 1833 Isaac Hoff resided Butler Co., Ohio; when he was allowed a pension based upon his

service during the Revolutionary War.250

40. JOHN4 HOFF (Pieter3, Dirck2 Poulussen, Paulus1 Dirckszen) was born circa 1723 Somerset Co., New Jersey.251

He married Antje Van Nest, daughter of Peter Van Nest and Magdalina Stoll.252 He died between 4 Apr 1780 and 16

Apr 1781; (dates of will and inventory).253 He was born at a time in which his father was in the middle of a controversy with Domine Theodorus Jacobus Frelinghuysen over administration of the sacraments (SCHQ 3:177). As a consequence no baptism record has been found

for John Hoff.254 In 1780 John Hoff resided Bridgewater Twp., Somerset Co., New Jersey.255 His will was dated on 4 Apr 1780 proved 27 Apr 1781. John Hoff of Bridgewater Twp., Somerset Co., yeoman. Wife, Ann, all real and personal estate while my widow. Son, John, a cow. Sons, John and Peter, my lands, paying to their sister, Margaret, espoused to George E. Hall, £40.
