Walter O(scar) Brewer was born in HamlltonCo., Ohio, Nov. 3;1883; son of P1nclmey and Bertha (Fronnn) Brewer.Pinclmey Brewer was born in Ross Co_. Ohio in 1858, the sonof Harvey and --- (Huffman) Brewer. "Harvey Brewer, who wasborn 1n Ross County, was a soldier in the Civil War, and diedas a result of wounds received while in service. PinckneyBrewer estab. a general contracting business in Chillicothe,Ohio 1n1888, and after 1920, included builders' supplies.He died in Apr. 1931. His widow, Bertha (Fromm) Brewer, wasborn in Ross County in 1861. She now resides in Chillicothe.Her father, John Fromm, was born in Germany. He later cameto the U. S., and was an early settler of Chillicothe. Fourchildren were born to Pinckney and Bertha (Fromm) Brewer,Walter Oscar being first in order of birth. The first ofthe Brewer family in America were two brothers. who came fromEngland in 1679. One of these brothers, John (or Thomas) wasthe progenitor of that line of the family from whom WalterOscar Brewer, the subject of this sketch, is a descendant.Members of the Brewer family served in the Rev. War.Walter O. Brewer attended grade and high sohs., and laterwas a student of busd.nea s coIl. In 1900 he became associatedwith his father in the general contracting business in Chilli-cothe, Ohio. Since the death of his father in Apr. 1931, 1ftl'.Brewer has eontd. the bUSiness, and now is serving as pres.The firm operates under the name, P! Brewer &; Sons, genenalcontractors, and engages in the paving and construction ofhighways:, roads, and railways" and in geil-eralbridge work.Mr. Brewer serves' as vice-pres. and a dire of the Portsmouth(Ohio) Asphalt Corpn."" and is a dir. of the Cltlzens Nat'lBank. He is a Republican, and a mem. of the following: BlueLodge, F. and A. M., Commandery (K. T.), Consistory (32nddeg.)# and Shrine; Elks Lodge; C. of e.; Chillicothe Coun-try Club; Ross Gounty Chaptarl Citizens Hlst. Asen. (a lifemam.); and.St. Jobnts Evangelical Church.
