Late summer - The last few weeks of the warmer months are drawing to a close

and long days filled with sunset-colored hues and balmy air, are soon to be a

distant memory. Dusk, the darker moments of twilight when shades of violet, gold

and fuchsia streak across the early night sky, is the turning point for day into night

and a cue to get ready and head out for a beachside cocktail, outdoor dinner

party or late night concert. Dress accordingly. The possibilities are endless.

DESIGNER PICKSDusk is the unofficial cue to get ready for a night out. Creative Director

Michele Manz turned to the icons of 1970’s Hollywood and the era’s most

glamorous poster girls, when it came to picking her favorite fall pieces to

suit the notion of dressing up and going out.

No one embodies the effervescent vibe of the 1970’s

like Cher, and her hallmark style went way beyond

the decade. Pair a chiffon blouse with high-waist

jeans for an effortless approach to timeless dressing.

“You can’t go wrong with the classics. This cool button down and high-waist jean always feel right no matter what

decade we’re living in.”

Sheer Chiffon Dolman Blousein Deep Teal $189

Undoubtedly one of the 1970’s most glamorous

style icons, Lauren Hutton embodies all that

was chic and sexy during the decade.

What’s edgier than a reptilian print done in a glossy

finish? Take a cue from edgy female rocker Debbie Harry

and wear these second skin pants with a basic black

tank top or glam them up with a sheer button down

blouse in a neutral tone.

Watch the “Behind James” video and all of the episodes of the film on YouTube.

This season’s vision is centered on actor and early pop

culture icon Rudolph Valentino, whose legacy is shrouded

in exotic mystery. The film delves into certain rituals and

legends involved with the late actor’s life as explored and

expressed by a group of contemporary figures, played by

Henry Hopper and modern day style icons including Lily

Donaldson and Lou Doillon. Model Natalia Bonifacci was

cast as Valentino in part because as James puts it “She

actually sort of looks like Rudolph Valentino.”

Clad in 7 For All Mankind’s high shine metallics, sexy snake

skin prints and leather-like denim, the cast took to famous

Los Angeles locales like The Hollywood Forever Cemetery and

Mark Mahoney’s Shamrock Tattoo Parlor to bring the concept

to life and illuminate a connection between the Hollywood

legends of the past and contemporary California culture.

As much as Rudolph Valentino was known for being a

lover, not a fighter, he allegedly challenged a Chicago

based newspaper journalist to a boxing match after the

writer attributed a pink talcum powder dispenser in a

men’s room (and the feminization of American men at

the time in general) to Valentino and his films.

Did You Know?

BEHIND JAMESJames Franco is back for his second season imagining and directing a film and brand campaign

for 7 For All Mankind. For fall, the mood is decidedly darker than spring, but maintains a similar

feel with the narrative based on California culture, seen at its most creative.

“The big thing I am trying to access is memory and how we deal with memory, what that means, how we remember people and who creates the lasting images of people. We all have our connections to people who we admire and it’s my own way of examining my own connections.”

“7 For All Mankind’s clothes to me read as a great mixture of contemporary and cool retro and denim speaks to that. It’s been the core clothing material at the center of hip youth culture in California for the last 40 or 50 years.”

atlantic-pacific.blogspot.com WHY WE FOLLOW HER She combines the preppy east with the laid-back west. DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONAL STYLE It’s ‘playful’. I love incorporating color and prints into my looks and never take myself too seriously. HOW DO YOU SWITCH UP YOUR LOOK FROM LATE SUMMER TO FALL In the late summer I am still wearing lighter fabrics, but transitioning into fall colors. Once fall hits I am ready to wear richer tones and textures as well as play with layers. WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT THESE JEANS I think a pair of black skinnies is a must all year round. 7 For All Mankind has always made an amazing jean that fits well and has fantastic recovery (a must in skinny jeans).

lateafternoon.comWHY WE FOLLOW HER Curated by a California girl with a

penchant for sharing her effortless style, adventures and dreams one picture at a time. DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONAL STYLE

Feminine and sophisticated with a little edge. HOW DO YOU SWITCH UP YOUR LOOK FROM LATE SUMMER TO FALL I wear a lot of lighter colors in the summer, but for fall I gravitate to richer,

darker hues. WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT THESE JEANS That they can be worn with anything and dressed up or down. Plus I’ve always been a fan of metallics; they are almost like neutrals to me.

It’s no secret that jeans are versatile enough to wear any time of year. But, we’re much more interested

in how that’s done and just how stylish denim can get. So we enlisted a few of our favorite fashion

bloggers to show us how they plan to wear some of our must-have items now, as well as later into the

cooler months of fall.

WHY WE FOLLOW HER Brooklyn Blonde is written by a

20-something year old New Yorker blogging about anything that

inspires her, particularly fashion and the city that she lives in.

DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONAL STYLE A combination of feminine

+ edgy - heavily influenced by NYC. HOW DO YOU SWITCH UP

YOUR LOOK FROM LATE SUMMER TO FALL By adding one of

my favorite leather jackets on top of whatever I’m wearing. WHAT

DO YOU LOVE ABOUT THESE JEANS I love that I can dress them

down during the day with a cotton v-neck and a pair of flats and

dress them up at night with a pair of killer heels.

12 HOURS IN L.A.Los Angeles may not be branded as “the city that never sleeps” but make no mistake that this town’s

denizens know exactly how to stay entertained from sundown to sunrise. Whether it’s soaking in the

last minutes of golden sunlight at dusk or listening to a band play into the late hours of the night, in

a city as broad and diverse as L.A. you’re bound to evade boredom or an empty stomach. Here are a

few suggestions to indulge the Californian in you.

5:00 AM

1:00 AM

7:00 AM

7:00 PM Take in the natural surroundings, plus an early evening

concert at the Hollywood Bowl; the outdoor venue that’s a perfect

setting for starting the night in L.A. and where music acts ranging

from Coldplay to Sound of Music sing-a-longs, draw huge crowds.

9:00 PM The Tasting Kitchen in Venice is perfect for a late night meal

at this perennially packed restaurant. In addition to the local, seasonal

fare, there’s a secret cocktail list, which includes a rotating list of six

drinks printed on postcards from the 50s and 60s. Let the restaurant

know if you like the drink, and the most popular concoctions win a

fulltime spot on their menu.

11:00 PM A fashionable drink at downtown’s Pattern Bar makes perfect

sense to really get the night underway. Here, The Marchesa rum and

mint cocktail harkens back to the prohibition era as does The McQueen

cocktail made of Hendricks gin and elderflower.

1:00 AM After drinks and dinner, it’s prime time to dance. Famed

DJ Michelle Pesce’s Thursday night residency — Off the Wall — at

The Dime is not to be missed, particularly if you love the best of

80s and 90s music.

5:00 AM Take advantage of the pre-dawn hours in L.A. when traffic is

relatively non-existent and cruising through the streets of the city is

uncharacteristically easy. Head west toward the ocean and north onto

the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH). Stop at Surfrider Beach to watch

long boarders hit the water as the sun rises.

7:00 AM Head back to the city for breakfast at Café Gratitude, where

they dish items with names like “I am Great” and “I am Sustained” will

help you get your day off to a positive start.

TRISH MCEVOY EYE SHADOW, SABLE BRONZEI swipe this on my lids to take my look from day

to night. It has a light shimmer so it compliments

lighter daytime makeup really well.

TRISH MCEVOY EYE DEFINER POWDER I like a bold brow especially for night so I use

this to pump things up.

LAURA MERCIER LOOSE SETTING POWDERThis eliminates shine from my t-zone. But in a

pinch, a paper toilet seat cover works just like

blotting paper.

ESTÉE LAUDER LIPSTICK, STAY PINKI always keep this with me in case I need to

go directly from the office to an event. It adds

glamour to neutral daytime makeup.

RENE FUTERER DRY SHAMPOO This eliminates oil and adds really great texture

to my hair when it’s looking lifeless at the end of

the day.

LA MER HAND CREAMA dab of hand cream adds a nice sheen to tired

hands and makes a manicure look fresh.

latest in style and beauty, as well as on every invite list

for chic parties and events around town. To take her
